Hi I'm Julie

I grew up in Hawaii. I'm a teacher, a coach, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love teaching, watching, and playing sports. I studied exercise and sports science in college and then served a mission in the Fiji Islands for 18 months, where I learned that I had a passion for teaching. When I returned from Fiji I went back to school and got my masters in education to become a PE teacher. I enjoy playing basketball, wakesurfing, biking, hiking, reading, drawing, and writing. I love being outdoors, traveling, and most of all I love spending time with my family and friends. I was born in California and moved to Maui with my mom and sister when I was 11 years old. I am grateful I had the opportunity to grow up in Hawaii and for the experiences I've had living there. I have wonderful parents. I'm grateful for my mom for having the courage to move us there based on her faith that we would have a better life there. I'm also grateful to my dad for supporting us in our move and for continually supporting me in all my endeavors in life.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up not knowing God or Jesus Christ. I remember my step sisters telling me who they were at a young age one night while laying in bed but I really had no concept of it. My parents were divorced when I was 2 years old and religion was never a part of our lives. However, I knew my grandmother went to church and had a book with her name on the front that she would always read and highlight. I later found out more about that book when my Mom decided that she needed to make a change for our family and moved us to Maui and we began to attend the Mormon church. It was the greatest decision that she ever made for our family. I will forever be grateful for my Mom's courage to repent and re-align her life to living the gospel of Jesus Christ. At age twelve I was taught by missionaries and baptized and confirmed a member of the church. I'm a Mormon because I know the happiness that comes from living the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have seen the blessings of peace and joy that it has brought to my family. I now know why I'm here on Earth and where I'm going. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and I know that through the gospel of Jesus Christ I can overcome all things and be happy in this life. I know that I will one day return to live with my Heavenly Father along with my family. I have come to know these things through the experiences in my life and through the confirming feelings of the spirit. I am grateful and happy to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to live my life in accordance with the gospel of Jesus Christ. I try my best each day to follow the path of the Savior and to be more like him. As I strive to pray and read my scriptures daily and to serve those around me I find joy and peace in my life. I continually make mistakes and sometimes don't make the best choices but I know that through the atonement of Jesus Christ I can repent and become better each day. I love what I do as a teacher and coach and most of all I love those I work with. I believe that actions speak louder than words. I am not very outspoken but I try to lead by example, hoping that my influence will be felt for good by those that I come in contact with. Currently I serve as a Sunday school teacher in my ward, where I have the humbling opportunity to teach the members of the church from the scriptures and help them to draw nearer to God and Jesus Christ. I love teaching and sharing the gospel!
