Hi I'm Katie

I was born and raised in Arizona. I work as an Orthodontic Assistant. And I'm Mormon!

About Me

I've lived in Arizona my entire life and started working at an orthodontic office when I was 16 years old. I've been in that field for almost 10 years. Some of my favorite things to do are: hanging out with my family and friends, playing the piano, reading, watching movies, and spending time outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my entire life. Towards the end of High School I began having questions and doubts of what I believed in. I went through a very difficult time in my life after graduating and felt completely alone. While I believed in His existence, I lead myself to believe God didn't hear me when I prayed. I thought maybe there are still things I need to experience without His direction. So I concluded that I could live without His presence in my life. Over time though I began feeling like there was a void in my life. There was something missing. I had become so blind. I hardened my heart. My family and some of my friends encouraged me to try once again to seek the companionship of the Lord. It was a very long process, but I eventually let myself break down the walls that had kept me from feeling the presence of our Father in Heaven. Over a year's time, I decided to try praying again. I knelt, with a few moments in silence. Finally, I prayed, "God, here I am. I am praying to you, I’m not even sure if You are listening." I prayed for a while longer, telling God of my frustrations, asking questions. I was impressed to read a particular passage from my journal. It was such a spiritual awakening to me. I was completely overwhelmed. After what happened, I knew that God really does listen. I felt His love. The Lord is so merciful and eager to bless my life if I but follow the commandments. I feel his love so strongly when I cling closer to the teachings of the gospel. I know what it is like to have the spirit absent and abandon a righteous life. I know if I follow the Lord’s teachings and do all that I can to my best ability, I can be blessed and the Lord will guide me to do his will. I love him. I love the gospel. I love the comfort I immediately receive when I open my scriptures and read verses from within. Each day the gospel brings me so much peace I know I cannot find anywhere else.

How I live my faith

I feel like I am in the prime of my activity in church. Prayer and daily scripture study are so important to me. In my ward I am a ward missionary so I am given such a wonderful opportunity to reach out to others to share the gospel and fellowship them in church. Part of the calling entails teaching Gospel Principles which is such a blessing because in addition to teaching others more of the gospel, I too learn so much more about this amazing gospel.
