Hi I'm Jared

I enjoy sports, hearty food, and a good laugh. And you guessed it, I'm Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy any and every sport. While I am getting a bit older I still play sports when I can and have turned my attention to the golf course recently. I never imagined hitting a stationary ball was so tough. I love to cook and eat. I like to try new recipes and learn how to cook different dishes. And yes my family fully supports this endeavor, especially my wife. I enjoy reading good books to my kids and on my own. I have been teaching school for the past twelve years and find great joy in helping young people out. I have taught nearly every subject out there and currently teach geography and student government. Its challenging and different each day, kinda like life.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always believed in God. However, just a belief in God doesn't make you a Mormon. I have followed the admonition of the Savior himself when he said in John 7:17 "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." A testimony comes in the doing. By living the precepts of the gospel I have come to know of its truth and peace. Heeding the modern day prophets and the Book of Mormon have given me necessary guidance to deal with what life has thrown at me. I have come to know that God loves us so much that He sent His only begotten son, to live and then die for us. I have come to feel of this love and cannot deny it. I also cannot deny the feelings of the Spirit that have led me on through my life. It is such a wonderful moment to have the Spirit direct you, many times to do things you wouldn't have thought of or known to do on your own. I know my Savior lives and my Heavenly Father love me despite my imperfections. This knowledge helps me do better and more, to stay clean and worthy, and to do what is right.

How I live my faith

I have served in many capacities in the church. I have served with younger children, teenagers, my own age group, and even those a bit older. When I serve others I find that my own problems are forgotten and many times disappear altogether. I have found that helping others is the quickest and best way to help yourself out. I enjoy service because it not only makes me better, it makes me happy. There are many ways to derive quick pleasure in life, but serving others in one of surest ways to feel true happiness and joy.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?
