Hi I'm Austin

I'm a dental student, a husband, and a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up just outside of Los Angeles, CA. I am currently a 4th year dental student in VA. I married my classmate during our 3rd year in school, and plan on living in Northern VA next year. I spent 1 year during my undergrad taking fellow college students down to Mexico to help out at various orphanages. Currently, I am helping organize and coordinate mobile free dental clinics around low income areas of Virginia.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love the many opportunities it gives us to serve others. Whether it's helping feed the hungry, supporting the lonely, or helping at church, there are always opportunities to help and support the people around you.

How I live my faith

Currently I'm assigned to help teach people in my community who are interested in learning more about the church. I'm not one of the guys on the bikes with the white shirts and black name-tags, but I help teach alongside with them. I also help teach the Sunday School class geared for those interested in learning more about the church's basic principles.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Thank God we have the Bible. Through all the trials and tribulations of the early Christian church (ie the Romans killing Christians in the Coliseums, the Apostles all murdered by misguided individuals, etc), it truly is a miracle that we have God's Word today. So why is a restoration necessary? The Bible tells stories of individuals called of God to lead his church - early prophets and apostles. These men were called, set apart, and anointed by those who held the authority to administer in God's church. When the early Apostles were all killed shortly after Christ's crucifixion and resurrection, there were no longer any people authorized to administer in God's church (ie Baptism, communion, etc). Throughout the following years, many people picked up on the truths that were destroyed by this falling away and developed many different churches and religious movements, but they lacked the organization, the authority, and the fullness of the Gospel. These were good men trying to do the best they could with the tools they had, and they have helped thousands of seekers find their way back to God's love. But there is more. God, in his infinite love and wisdom want's all of his children to learn about His plan of happiness. To do this, God needed to restore the church that Christ had once set up, but had since fallen away. Since He called the first modern day prophet, the heavens have opened and many truths which were lost have been brought back, including the original organization, the authority, and the fullness of the Gospel. We challenge people of all faiths to bring the truths that God has given them and see if we cannot add to them. We want everyone to know of the love and happiness that comes with understanding God's plan for us. Show more Show less
