Hi I'm Robert Mateer

I grew up in Belfast Northern Ireland, I'm married with 6 children and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Belfast, grew up as a Mormon at a difficult time in Ireland where the Irish troubles were at their peak. Other than my own brothers and sisters I was the only Mormon in my school. I knew from an early age I wanted to stay in the church because it brought me great happiness. I'm married with 6 children and 5 grand children. we Love our family and have great times together.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it brings joy and happiness to my life, I feel great, my health is always good because I follow the health code laid down by the scriptures. I know the joy I feel comes from living the principles of the gospel. I know I still make mistakes but grateful to be able to know my weaknesses so I can work to improve.

How I live my faith

I love to attend church every Sunday and meet with the members, I know the more I put in the more joy I feel and life just feels great. I like to stay positive. I read the Book of Mormon each day as it give me joy and peace and a clearer direction on lifes difficult decisions.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Robert Mateer
The gift of the Holy Ghost is given when a person is confirmed a member of the Church after baptism by someone having priesthood authority from God. It is given by the person having authority laying their hands upon the head of the person who was baptized and giving them a blessing to receive the Holy Ghost (Acts 8:14-18). Whether or not we then receive this great gift depends on our keeping the commandments of God. Show more Show less
