Hi I'm Karla

I'm a mom who has traveled the world. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Wyoming with a loving and supportive family. I love reading, writing and teaching online classes for a state college. When I was young I had two dreams, to be a mom and travel the world. I have seen my dreams turn into reality, although in ways I did not anticipate.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have a deep abiding love for Jesus Christ. I love the Savior and know that his sacrifice allows me to be saved. I also love my family and I know that we can be together forever. I am not just a member of a church, having the gospel allows me to develop a deeper relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. In times of joy and sorrow I have found the gospel is there for me, it gives me answers to my deepest questions.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday. Part of being a member of this church means serving others. I love to visit my neighbors and support them when they need it. Sometimes that means watching kids or dropping off meals to new moms. It can also mean a phone call or volunteering to organize an event. I currently serve as a teacher in our congregation. I was recently asked to teach the women in our ward once a month. It is wonderful to teach about faith, repentance and living a Christlike life. Before being asked to teach adults I was teaching children Sunday school. It is amazing to see the light of Christ in a child's eyes as I taught them about the Savior. I always feel like the person that is most blessed by serving is the person giving their time.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Karla
All Mormons are not required to serve a full time mission. However, every young man is asked to prepare and be worthy to serve a full time mission at 19, young women are asked to prayerfully consider if serving a mission is something they have a desire to do. When I was 21 I felt a strong desire to serve a mission and after submitting my paper work I was called to serve a mission in Scotland for 18 months. It was a wonderful experience. It taught me so much about the love of the Savior and his atonement. Serving a full-time mission is an amazing experience, filled with hardships and joys. Even if a member does not serve a full time mission they are asked to seek opportunities to share the gospel. This can mean something as simple as offering your seat on the train to someone in need to sharing your testimony. Striving to live a Christlike life means emulating Christ. The Savior was not only kind and loving to those around him, he shared a wonderful message of peace and redemption. Show more Show less
