Hi I'm Logan

I'm from California, I'm a student, I was a decathlete and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 28 and just started my first semester in graduate school in urban and regional planning. It's my 8th year of school and I'm not even close to being a Doctor. My undergrad was in landscape architecture. So now I guess I want to be a planner but I still want to be a designer. While I was getting my undergrad I was a on the track and field team as a decathlete, too bad those glory days are over. I just got married this last July. My wife is a hair stylist, so free haircuts for the rest of my life. Considering we just got married, still no kids, but looking forward to it someday. I love my wife to death. I love to read adventure and thriller books and I like to do a little bit of bird hunting. That's my life in a nutshell.

Why I am a Mormon

It's hard to explain the feelings that come from knowing something is absolutely true. I was raised a Mormon with and incredible family that loves the Lord, but it wasn't until my experiences as a missionary that I absolutely knew for myself of the truthfulness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It was there in Brazil that my foundation was laid for the rest of my life. I had experiences there that were life changing for me and for the people that I was teaching. When those people, that doubted at first, had the courage to pray about our teachings, they received real answers. They new it was true, not because I said it was but because they received an answer from the one and only true God. This life is hard, so it is so nice to know that Christ lives. It is so nice to know that He has suffered everything, so that when I feel anguish, pain or suffering, He can succor me because He has felt it. When we feel that no one would understand, He does. His suffering was for so much more than our sins. He suffered every hurt that we have ever felt and will continue to feel. The Church of Jesus Christ is His church restored here on the earth by the Prophet Joseph Smith. It is through him that the Book Of Mormon was translated, which is ancient scripture written by Prophets in the Americas. It is another testament of Jesus Christ and it is a book of power that has the ability to change lives. It is a true book and I use it in my studies with the Bible. We have a living Prophet today, Thomas S. Monson. He is the Lord's mouthpiece just as in times of old. I love my Father in Heaven, I love Jesus Christ, and it is through the Holy Ghost that I know that this is the true and living church on the earth today.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith daily. I have had a few tasks so far as a member of the Mormon Church, but right now I am involved with the youth. I am the sports coordinator/coach for the young men ages 12-18. We play volleyball and basketball and it really is a blast. The world is pretty wicked so this is one good way for the youth to stay out of trouble. Every month I also visit homes of some member families just to see how they are doing and if they need any assistance. It is very gratifying to serve others in the community.

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

Recently a few of my class mates found out that I don't drink alcohol. They were very surprised. I have always wondered why it is such a surprise to people, alcohol can kill you. Well, to be plain and simple, there are a lot of things that are harmful to our bodies and very addictive. Our bodies are very precious to us and they are given to us by our heavenly father in order for us to be able to live this life that we may be able to return to Him. Things like alcohol, nicotine and other drugs literally destroy these bodies, or gifts, that were given to us. It is important to exercise our bodies, through exercise we are healthier mentally and physically and can prevent harmful diseases that are life threatening. In the Bible our bodies are referred to as temples, which they are (1st Corinthians 3:16-17). We are spirt children of our Heavenly Father and these bodies that were created by Him and His Son are the temples that house this spirit, therefore, our bodies are sacred. We are given our bodies to help us have earthly experiences that will help us gain experience to return with our Heavenly Father. It is a gift from Him, we must treat it like a very special gift and avoid anything that can bring it harm. Show more Show less
