Hi I'm Katey

I'm a fitness instructor, wannabe athlete, a mom and a work in progress. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I live with our little girl in California. He is the love of my life and beyond. We are both nerds and dabble in various hobbies. We love to be active and we love to try new things. Above all, we like to try new foods and spices. That's one of the many reasons why I teach fitness classes. We love food! Since we've been married, we have met several challenges together. These challenges have taught us to unite ourselves in our marriage and in faith.

Why I am a Mormon

I've always known that this is the True Church. But, like everyone, I struggle. Life is not meant to be without hardship. Whether I was met by illness, loss, disappointment or consequences of bad choices, I felt encouraged to draw near to my Heavenly Father through the scriptures or the words of the Prophet. These words help me. They guide me. And through them, God makes me better.

How I live my faith

I look for ways to serve people around me. Those people include my family. Serving others helps me be unselfish. It brings me closer to my God.  I've also become less shy in telling people that I am a Mormon. My friends remember my standards and I hope that I can serve as a good example.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Katey
We refer to the Temple as the "House of the Lord". They are holy places where we go to worship God and learn. Only worthy members of the Church are permitted inside the temple after much preparation. With that understanding, each person who attends the temple is given certain responsibilities. If one is not ready for those obligations, they may disregard sacred things. The temple is different from our regular chapels because the worship services are different. Some of the work includes binding families together forever. It is a great blessing to go to the temple. It helps me refocus my life on what is important. Show more Show less
