Hi I'm Christy

I'm a full-time Mom of four kids and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and a mother of four children- two boys and 2 girls. They keep me busy with all their soccer practices, Boy Scouts, school activities, as well as laundry and housework! I love what I do and consider being a mom my "full time job". In my free time, I enjoy painting my walls, furniture or crafts, walking the dogs, going out to eat with my husband, substitute teaching at my kids' school, and shopping.

Why I am a Mormon

Because it makes me happy! I know when I obey God's commandments and follow the example of Jesus Christ, I am on the right track because I feel happy. I know the Bible and the Book of Mormon are the words of God and teach us how to live so we can be happy in this life. I love my family, and I love that the Gospel of Jesus Christ teaches that families can be together forever!

How I live my faith

I am involved with the women's program in the church-visiting and serving those in need. I help plan and organize meetings each month to strengthen their faith and testimony of the Savior. We always enjoy a feeling of sisterhood and love together, and welcome friends of other faiths.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Christy
Nobody is required to serve a mission. Young men are encouraged to serve a mission when they are 18 years old for two years. Girls are given the opportunity to serve missions when they are 19 years old if they choose to. I chose to serve a mission and was able to serve in Barcelona Spain for 18 months. It was a great opportunity for me to share my beliefs and love for the gospel of Jesus Christ. I took a break from college to go, and before I left I felt I was making a sacrifice to go, but upon completing my mission, I realized I had been blessed far more than I sacrificed. I gained a greater understanding of the gospel, learned study habits and discipline that helped me when I returned to college, learned to speak Spanish fluently, loved the people of Spain and learned of their culture, but most importantly I learned of the love God has for all his people and that He has a plan for us all to be happy.
