Hi I'm Jade

I'm a singer, an optimist, a caregiver for those with developmental disabilities, AND I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a family of 9. I have two parents, an older sister, and five little brothers. Except not all of them are so little anymore. My siblings age range is form 4 to 24. My family is very important to me. I am a student at BYU-I studying Early Childhood and Special Education with a second minor in Music; Voice Emphasis. I love learning, children, music, singing, and working with those with disabilities so it is a perfect fit :) I have worked as a caregiver for adults with developmental disabilities for 3.5 years and LOVE it. I am learning taekwondo and am an intermediate level. I love sports! I played volleyball for 4 years, soccer for 2, basketball for 10, track and field for 3, and softball (as a child) for 2 years. I also did marching band and played in the Macy's Day parade for 1 year. Then I became homeschooled and could not continue on school teams or organizations anymore and had to give it up. Although I was grateful for the chance to continue sports. (By the way, I loved homeschooling!) I love to write song lyrics. It is so satisfying to put life into rhymes. Emotions seem to buzz around inside of me faster and faster until they want to explode unless I let them out in rhymes. I also love arranging hymns. I'm not to the most talented at it. It takes time but I love to do it.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon not because I was raised that way (although I was), not because I feel forced to be (becuase I don't), and not because I can get into a good school for less (which I still cant afford) but because I have prayed to my Heavenly Father and received the answer that this is right and true. I am a mormon because of the joy I get when living my faith. I love the freedom I feel and the love that surrounds. Everything I learn here just makes sense. In all my learning, I am left with tons of questions. I am a questioner. Every question when pondered on and searched for has an answer, if it is truth. Man is imperfect and therefore cannot create anything flawless. Perfect truths come from something bigger than man. For example, math leads to answers while politics or government, for say, leads to more questions and logical errors. When I'm studying the gospel (the Book of Mormon, prophets words, and Bible all together) questions lead to answers and everything makes sense.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be kind to everyone. Every single person on this planet is God's child and is very important to him. I try to realize that in my interactions. When I get irritated with someone I reminded myself of that and try to see them in God's eyes. I try my best to do everything He has asked me to do. I find its easier to obey 100% of the time as opposed to 98% of the time. The problem is, its hard to obey 100% of the time lol But its easier to obey if I try to 100% of the time rather than make exceptions. I trust in my Saviour and use his Atonement to repent and for comfort during trials. I go to church every Sunday, pray, and read my read my scriptures. I live my faith by trying to be better everyday.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The Atonement is our greatest gift from God. It encompasses Christ's suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane, death on the cross, and Resurrection three days later. Through the Atonement, we will all be resurrected. That means that death is not the end. We will all (every person that ever lived) live again, spirits and bodies reunited, after death. Christ's Atonement paid the price of our sins. He not only paid the price for our sins, but he also felt all our hardships and pains. It was necessary for Christ to sacrifice his life for us to return to live with our Father in Heaven. No unclean thing can live with God and being mortal, we are all unclean. We all sin and fall short. Christ's Atonement fully covers all of our sins if we use his Atonement and repent and follow him. To follow Him we follow His example and be baptized then we strive to be like Him through obedience and repentance when we fall short. He has given everyone the gift of immortality whether they accept Him or not. Those who accept and follow Him will be given the gift of eternal life, which is not only to live forever but to live with God forever. Christ said "For behold, I... have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer... even as I.” Christ suffered for us because He loves us and does not want us to suffer. He pleads for us all to come unto Him. He wants to not only help us through our sins but also all of our shortcomings and trials. He has felt it all and is waiting to help. Show more Show less
