Hi I'm Brent Brown

I'm a Builder, I'm a Photographer, I'm a Husband, and I'm a Father, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Both my wife and I had spent out entire youth growing up in the West so when we were faced with a decision on where we would start out family together, a job offer came up to work for a custom home builder on Martha's Vineyard we couldn't say no. I'm a father and husband of a young family with a beautiful one and a half year old daughter. I never knew how much joy a man could experience until he had a precious daughter of his own. We have had our fair share of struggles as we have adapted to living on an island, but we will never get tired of living 5 minutes away from the beach. I spend what little free time I have photographing the beautiful landscapes of the island. Most Saturday mornings before the sun rises you'll find me and my camera at the beach waiting in anticipation of the sunrise. I often find myself alone on the beach but it gives me time to relax and listen to the ocean.

Why I am a Mormon

My ancestors were early pioneers that joined the LDS Church in the state of Maine during the 1800s. It's rewarding to move back to New England to get a glimpse into what their lives may have been like. Growing up, my parents taught me well in the church and provided every opportunity to learn things for myself. I look back on my youth and am thankful for the lessons that were taught to me that guided me the rest of my life in making wise decisions. I also reflect back on those sacred experiences of my youth that lead me to believe for myself that the LDS Church was the path in which I should follow. It has brought me great joy in this life as I have followed the teachings of my Savior Jesus Christ. I truly have come to have a great relationship with Him and realized how personally He knows me. I have never seen a vision, beheld an angel of God, or see the Lord face to face, but I have received the sweet touch of the Holy Ghost in my life confirming that this gospel message is true.

How I live my faith

Six months after arriving to the Island of Martha's Vineyard I was called to be the local congregational leader for our small branch of members on the island. It has been a rewarding experience to help out individuals and families grow and strength their relationships with Jesus Christ. It is not a paid position nor does it take the place of my full time job, but it is very rewarding to work among men and watch the changes that our wrought in the lives of people as they struggle and make decisions to stay true to the gospel message. I see myself merely as an instrument in the hands of the Lord willing to do what He would have me to do.
