Hi I'm Illya

I'm a son of God, I'm a Ukrainian Australian, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a Mormon missionary currently serving in the Ukraine Donetsk Mission. I am currently an office Elder and have time to write this small blog. It's no coincidental that I am serving in Ukraine. I was born in Kiev and grew-up there. At the age of 9 my parents and I moved to Brisbane, Australia where I was living until I left to come back to my homeland the Ukraine. I love Ukraine and its people and it is a dream come true to be serving them and sharing that which has brought so much joy and happiness to my life. That is the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I love life! I'm an optimist! I love music and singing! I love people, your all awesome! I am grateful that I live in this beautiful world.

Why I am a Mormon

I am on a quest to be the best I can be. I know this is only possible with the assistance of the Lord. Long ago I searched deep within myself and found the only way to be the best I can be is to keep commandments set by our Father in Heaven. That is to have Faith in Christ, Repent and be baptized by immersion by one holding authority (Priesthood Holder), receive the gift of the Holy Ghost and strive to Endure to the End. This is the doctrine of Christ, and God. It is the way of life. I'm Mormon because I know who I am, I know Gods plan and I will live it because it works. It sure beats any plans I have seen executed, unsuccessfully I might ad. Anything more or less than this is not from God.

How I live my faith

My faith is in Jesus Christ our Savior. Therefore, I live my life emulating his, always seeking to be better, more loving, caring, kind, humble and seeking many more amazing qualities He possessed in the utmost perfection. He served other and I serve others, currently as a full-time missionary. There is nothing greater or more fulfilling than doing the Lords work which is to bring about the Immortality and Eternal life of man. As I help and invite my brothers and sisters to partake of these blessing I see a light inside them, I see confidence and joy in their hearts along with a renewed desire to strive to be better. I see families blessed. I see blessings poured out on those who put forth their faith nothing doubting and simply living in harmony with the gospel.

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

Illya
Our beloved prophet is President Thomas S. Monson. I had the wonderful privilege of seeing him at the 180th General Conference (Apr 2010) and it was a life changing experience for me. I could not hold back tears as the Holy Ghost testified to me that this man is the mouthpiece of my Father in Heaven appointed for this day and time to lead the Church. I know without a doubt and testify that he is a man called of God, his authority comes through the line of modern day prophets starting with Joseph Smith who was anointed by Jesus Christ himself to restore for the last time; never to be taken from the Earth again, the complete fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I bare witness this is true and it is available to the entire World in its magnificent simplicity and beauty. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Illya
A personal conviction and an evident witness of the truthfulness and reality of something. For example: I 'know' God lives. Do you sense I'm doubting or that in some way I am unsure. No, because I 'know', and thats now solid fact. I have a personal conviction backed by the Holy Ghost and no power on the Earth can take that away from me. Mormons speak of their testimonies with love and importance very often and share it with others because, the truthfulness of something as magnificent as the Gospel means that our existence has purpose, there is a lifestyle which will not only bring satisfaction but Eternal Happiness and this knowledge has the power to change lives and place people on the straight an narrow path towards God and his kingdom, home. Like the Bible; The Book of Mormon, is a (New) Testament of Jesus Christ, together they provide two powerful testimonies of the divinity, the infinite love and mercy of the Lord towards the children of men since the days of Adam. Not just in Jerusalem but also on the American Continents, and isles of the sea. Two witnesses are always stronger than one, each one grasping key truths and facts of any account. Show more Show less
