Hi I'm Michael

I like going places and making new friends. I love life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student in Utah studying history and English education. I love spending time in the outdoors! I also enjoy playing basketball and football, listening to 80s music, reading books, and drawing.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon family and loved it! Some of the rules were hard to understand as a kid, but I trusted my family because I knew that they loved me. Over time I came to feel that the things my parents taught me were simply the right things to do anyway. What is great about our church is that anyone can test it out to see if it will help him or her be closer to God. I did it when I was younger by studying Joseph Smith's experience of seeing God and Jesus Christ and then praying to ask if it was true. I also read the Book of Mormon a few times and asked God if it was true. These were things that I always felt good about, but when I asked my Heavenly Father seriously about them, he helped me to feel that they were true with all my heart. God loves all of his children and wants us all to know that he is ready to help us today just as he always has. I know that he gives us the answers we're looking for when we show that we really want them. Although life is still hard at times, I feel so happy every time I remember that God is watching out for my family and me. Even better, I know that he will help us to be together forever if we follow his teachings.

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon has taught me that helping other people is one of the most rewarding things in life. I find that there is always a way to help out at church, whether I am setting up tables for an activity, visiting someone who's feeling lonely, or leading a discussion in Sunday school. When I served a full-time mission in Salt Lake City, I had opportunities every day to do things like this. Since I have finished my mission, I have been able to serve in other ways, such as by helping young men and women to prepare to serve their own missions. I don't have as much time now that I'm going to school again, but I try to live a Christ-like life by always watching out for opportunities to brighten somebody's day.
