Hi I'm Pierce

I am studying to be an optometrist. I am from California. I served a mission in Argentina. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student who is studying at graduate school to be an optometrist. My four older brothers and I all play the trumpet. I got married in summer of 2009. My wife is studying to become a counselor. I love my family. We enjoy playing games together like Scrabble and Chess.

Why I am a Mormon

My father is a convert to the church. When he was 18 years old, he wondered about the creation of the world and the purpose of life. He addressed several questions to his science professor at high school. This professor was a Mormon and shared his beliefs with my dad. My father listened to the missionaries and was baptized. My mother and father always did their best to teach us correct principles while we were young. From an early age I heard about Jesus Christ, Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. I knew, however, that I could not live my life on borrowed light and I wanted to gain my own conviction. At the age of 15, I decided I would read the Book of Mormon and pray sincerely to know if the Book of Mormon is true. My answer came through the gentle and peaceful feelings of the Holy Ghost. I felt in my mind and in my heart that the words written in that book were inspired of God. I received a positive and encouraging feeling that I was doing the right thing. Since then, I have read the book several times, and I continue to have good feelings in my heart that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the correct way to live and that we can return to God's presence after death. I know that Jesus Christ can save us from our sins if we have faith and believe in him. This knowledge changes my daily actions and makes me strive to be a better person.

How I live my faith

In my previous ward, my wife and I served in the Nursery. We tended and taught the young children while their parents were able to attend Sunday school. This was a wonderful blessing to see the purity and love of the children. Also, I had the opportunity to visit different families in the ward and provide a message for them once a month. This message focused on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. I had the wonderful opportunity to serve a mission for the church as well. I was in Argentina for two years teaching all who would listen about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This was one of the greatest times of my life.
