Hi I'm Amy

I'm a Mormon. I'm a triplet. I'm a college sophomore.

About Me

I'm a sophomore in college, my major is currently the haunting "Undecided". I'm working on that though. I grew up in the beautiful area of western Oregon but have moved 4 times since I turned 12. It's been really good learning to get to know new people and cultures. I feel like I'd be a much quieter and unfriendly person if I didn't have the experiences of being put in a totally new place. I've always stood out in these new places. First off people learn that I'm a triplet, then they find out I'm a Mormon. Even if we do tease each other a lot, I've always felt lucky to have my two brothers around to talk to and laugh with. Even when I don't know anyone around me or can't understand what they're saying, me and my brothers can laugh about it and shrug it off.

Why I am a Mormon

Some decisions are really hard for me. I've jumped around in a couple majors, choosing an apartment to live in takes forever, even choosing what to eat that's healthy gives me trouble. Luckily for me, I found a decision that I know I don't have to worry about. I am a Mormon, through and through. Being a Mormon is an everyday decision, what sets it apart is what a feel each time I choose to "be a Mormon". I've had doubts, but as soon as I do what I feel is right, everything is recommitted to me. The Spirit is what gives me that confirmation, and I know being baptized into this Church is the best thing I've ever chosen. What hits me the hardest is how every time I do what is inherently right, it falls into what the Church is telling me to do. When I try to go my own way and make up my own "right and wrongs" the uncomfortable feeling turns me back to the truth. I've felt the truth of this Gospel, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and that is why I am a Mormon, I've found the source of truth.

How I live my faith

Service is essential in living this Gospel. I know I can do so much better, and if I was trying to serve on my own, I wouldn't get anything done. Through my ward there are countless opportunities to serve those in my apartment complex and neighborhood. Organizing food and blood drives, collecting cans to recycle, picking up litter, babysitting, and yard work have all been started by my ward and let me join in. My favorite assignment has been teaching the very young children the foundations of the Church. The Gospel truly is simple, and these children understand it better than anyone.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Mormons definitely believe the Bible is Holy Scripture and the word of God. The Old Testament is filled with prophecies given to the House of Israel which are then fulfilled in the New Testament, through Jesus Christ. It lays out the many miracles and examples of God's love for his children during all time periods. We strongly believe in the New Testament accounts of Christ and His miracles performed. Each book serves as a testimony of Christ and his works, which lay the foundation for His gospel. Through careful study of the Bible we can learn all the truths of Christ's gospel, and thus the truths of our church. Show more Show less
