Hi I'm Gabriela

Born in Maryland. Twenties. Married. Dog owner. Nature lover. Bibliophile. Adventurer. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Maryland. I have a large family, and grew up with my parents and younger sister. I learned about the church from my childhood best friend, whose family I was close with. I am the only Mormon in my family. I attend college as an International Studies major and work full time as an Accounting Technician. My free time is spent with my husband and dog, visiting family and friends, traveling, taking photos, hiking, and trying new things.

Why I am a Mormon

I was a child when I was first introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It took a long time for me to have a strong testimony of the church, but looking back I can see how my spiritual growth has been exponential since being baptized. I waited a long time to be baptized because I had so many questions, and so much emotion when it came to knowing God. Over time, I progressed from being cynical and impulsive to hopeful and patient. As the only Mormon in my family, I had to choose to be an active member of Christ's church without the structure and support of my family. Sometimes I lost friends, and often felt alone. Living a faith is an every-moment-of-your-life kind of choice. I am here today by hard work and the grace of God. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints expanded on my knowledge, honed my faith, and strengthed my testimony of God, humanity, and the world. My faith and testimony have made me a better person, and have taught me to constantly strive for good things. I learned about the nature of love, strength and self-sufficiency, the power of morality and personal integrity, and the purpose of life. I believe that this is the true church Christ established on earth; It is a calm center of love and assurance in my life. This life is a journey. It is entirely up to each individual what choices they make in life, but it's also up to that person to own them. I recommend to anyone who is reading this: Don't give up if you're having a hard time. You are not alone. Pray and ponder earnestly to find the truth of all things. Look for the good in each day. Open your heart to the gospel. No one said it would be easy, they just said that it would be worth it. I am a Mormon because I know that am a child of God, that my worth is great, and that through the gospel of Jesus Christ all things are possible. Whatever part of the journey you may be on, may you know you are loved.

How I live my faith

I am a Nursery leader. I'm a Visiting teacher. I'm a volunteer. I'm a friend and sister. I do my best to educate myself, live a clean and healthy life, and act with love and charity to those around me. I live my faith with every choice I make. I pray daily and read my scriptures. I attend church and help others in need. I share the good news with those around me, if they're willing to listen with an open heart. I believe God wants all his children to be as smart, strong, faithful, loyal, and fair as they are able. I live my faith by honoring God with the life I lead.
