Hi I'm Fred

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 70 years old, have a beautiful wife and 2 children, our son is married and they have 2 children of their own. Our daughter is married and has 2 children, The eldest served a mission in Phoenix, Arizona and is now married and has a child of his own. Our great grandson was born on our 50th wedding anniversary. Our daughter's other son has graduated from high school and is now attending Montana State University. .

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church while in the U.S. Navy stationed in the Philippine Islands. I was impressed by the fact that the church is organized exactly as it was when Jesus Christ established it during His lifetime. It is the only church I have found that encourages us to go directly to Heavenly Father in prayer if we have any questions about the teachings or even questions about a talk that was given by one of the leaders. We have a true living prophet at the head of the church today, President Thomas S. Monson.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing the best I can to do service for others. I do all I can to remain worthy to hold the Priesthood on a daily basis. Perhaps the best part is participating in the ward choir. We have a lot of fun there and get to sing uplifting songs, mostly from the Church Hymnal.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Fred
I found the question about how we dress for church to be interesting. I wear a suit and tie for all church gatherings unless it is specified that we can wear more casual dress. I have had people tell me that "God doesn't care what you wear to church", I agree, He probably doesn't. I feel, however, that I am visiting God in His house and therefore I must wear appropriate clothing. In a business, I would not go to the office of the owner of another business and wear blue jeans and T-shirt. I dress appropriately out of respect to my Heavenly Father. I also dress in suit and tie to perform the ordnances through the priesthood that I am honored to hold.  Show more Show less
