Hi I'm BJ

I play college football. I want to be a structural engineer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Me and my wife were married last year in December. She loves playing soccer and going to the beach. I love snowboarding, hiking, rock climbing, and playing sports. I am currently a masters student in Civil Engineering. I have hiked through the Grand Canyon, rim to rim, twice. I shattered my elbow last year while on a long board with my wife. Thanks to an awesome doctor, I have made it back to playing football.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the doctrine helps me understand about why I am here living my life and the opportunity I have, by living righteously, to be with my wife and family forever in the next life after we die. I believe that God communicates with his children in all generations of time and that through prophets and apostles, my family and I will be guided to follow God's commandments. I believe in Jesus Christ as the Savior and Redeemer of all of God's children. By following His teachings and example, we can improve ourselves and progress towards becoming the best people we can be. I believe that I can repent of my sins and be forgiven. By following God's will, given to us by His prophets and through scripture, we can find peace and happiness in our families.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church meetings each Sunday and partaking of the sacrament, where bread and water are given to members in remembrance of Christ's sacrifice. I am grateful, each week, for this time to ponder on the sacrifice Christ made for all of us and recommit to living my life better. I study scriptures and pray to my Father in Heaven. I seek opportunities to serve others and help those in need. I strive to nourish my relationship with my wife and draw closer to her each day. I'm also striving to serve her and put her welfare over my own.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

When coming to this earth and being born to earthly parents, we were separated from our Father in Heaven and became subject to physical and spiritual death. Physical death meaning that we are mortals and will die. Spiritual death meaning that we will make mistakes and do things that are contrary to our Father in Heaven's will. In order to be 'redeemed' or helped to overcome these obstacles we need a Savior or mediator who will help us return to Heavenly Father's presence. Christ suffered for our sins so that if we accept his sacrifice and repent of our sins, he might take those sins away from us and make us clean again. Christ also was crucified and resurrected. He overcame death and provided a way for all of us to also overcome death and live again after we die. Show more Show less
