Hi I'm Leslie

I'm a high school teacher and a lifelong student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to try different things! I've never had a strong talent in one particular area to help me focus my energies, so I'm drawn to lots of things! I studied classical Greek and Latin in college and got a minor in math. I love fiddling around on the piano even though the music I make is second rate. I got a ukulele for Christmas last year and have started fiddling around on that too. I love to read all different kinds of things! I love my cat, Cicero. Whenever I go out to my garden you can be sure I'll be out there too long. Now my husband and I are thinking about trying small-scale beekeeping! I taught math at a small private school for a few years, and now I teach Latin at the nearby public high school. I love seeing students grow in confidence and understanding. And in the moments when I'm tempted to summarily banish all students who step out of line, I try to remember the Lord's instruction that authority can only be maintained by "persuasion, by long-suffering, by gentleness and meekness, and by love unfeigned."

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the peace and joy that living the gospel brings to me. The opportunity to receive continuing revelation through personal prayer, scripture study, and the living prophet comforts and guides me in times of trouble. It also challenges me to become better during times of ease. After experiencing the change that faithful membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints achieves, I cannot turn away from it.

How I live my faith

I try to see people around me, including my students, the way the Lord sees them.
