Hi I'm Will

I am from Utah. I graduated in chemical engineering from the University of Utah. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently graduated with a bachelor's in chemical engineering. I have lived most of my life in Utah. I lived in upstate New York for two years while serving as a missionary for the church. I have been married for over five years and have two children, a boy and a girl. My wife and I live in university student apartments until we move this Spring and serve in our local student ward of the church.

Why I am a Mormon

My family have been members of the church going back to the 1800's on both sides. This is the church I was raised with and learned about through my youth. My parents taught me and my brothers and sisters to do what was right and to listen to what the prophets taught. Later in my youth I came to discover that not everyone believed like I had been taught to. This was troubling to me because I had always accepted that it was true and the fact that others didn't believe it, and some even fought against it, made me realize the possibility that it wasn't true. I felt that I had to be sure that what I was living was true. I was 14 or 15 years old when I first decided that I needed to ask God if The Book of Mormon really was true. I can clearly remember being outside on a warm day just thinking about life and how I wasn't really sure that I could say that I knew that the church was true, though I believed that it was. The thought came to me that I had never prayed and asked God to let me know if it was true, I had always felt like there should be a lot of work and preparation for it, like it should be a big event. But being there I felt like that would be as good a time as any to pray. So I did. I prayed to know if the Book of Mormon was true. I don't know what I was expecting, maybe a voice or a vision or something, but what did come was a calm, comforting feeling that made me feel at peace in the world. As I went to go back indoors I had the distinct thought, "This is your answer, don't miss it." I realized that God had answered my prayer in a subtle, yet clear way that the Book of Mormon was true and that I could now say with confidence that I know it is true.

How I live my faith

Currently I serve as an executive secretary for our ward. This involves communicating between the church leadership and individual members in order to ensure that plans to help the ward are carried out effectively and well. I find time daily to study the scriptures, both by myself and with my wife, and look for ways to apply their teachings as the Holy Spirit directs. The student apartments where I live have many people moving in and out, so I try to help these people as I am able. As I go through the challenges of daily living, I remember to have faith in God and His son, Jesus Christ, that all things will work together for the good of them that love God and serve Him.
