Hi I'm Kevin

The Gospel and family mean everything to me! As cancer has hit our family multiple times, our faith has been a huge strength to us

About Me

I grew up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I did well through school, and loved spending time with friends, especially my best friend. I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sydney, Australia, and absolutely loved serving there for two years, sharing the Gospel with everyone I met. I have been married to my beautiful wife for over five years, and we have two wonderful children with another one on the way. I earned my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mathematics Education, and I am now working on a PhD. I love spending time with my wife and family, and we love to travel. Cancer has afflicted our family multiple times. My grandmother passed away from colon cancer, my grandfather has had skin cancer, my father is currently battling leukemia, and most dear to my heart, my mother passed away from colon cancer just over a year ago. Without my knowledge of God's Plan, and the fact that I know there is life after death, I would be so lost. However, with the knowledge I have that God and Jesus Christ live and love us, that death is not the end, and that families can be together forever through sacred ordinances within God's holy temples, I can still have great joy and enjoy life, even though I miss my mother and other family members dearly, knowing that we will one day be reunited for eternity.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been so blessed by being a Mormon. I know that I would not be as happy as I am today without the Church. My family could easily be somewhere a lot worse than where we are now without the Church. I know that God lives. I know that His Son, Jesus Christ, suffered and died for us, that we might repent, and change our lives for the better. When we do what they ask of us, and follow the Commandments, the blessings we receive are beyond comprehension. Life is not easy. It's not easy for anyone. But it is a lot happier, and a lot more wonderful because I am a Mormon, and I have the Lord to help me. The peace and joy that come from the Gospel is not something that you can get anywhere else. It only comes from God and following His Son Jesus Christ. I love my Savior. I love my Heavenly Father. One of the best blessings comes from the temple, and being able to be together with my family, and my beautiful wife, forever. Those are just a few of the reasons I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I love sharing the Gospel with others, and helping others learn for themselves that God lives and loves them, that he still speaks to us today through living prophets, and that God has a plan for all of us which, if we follow, can bring us eternal joy. I live my faith by trying a little harder every day to be more Christlike, to show love towards all I meet, and to serve others in any way I can. That is my ultimate goal, to one day become as loving, kind, and charitable as our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I read the scriptures every day, and I pray as much as I can, working hard to learn about God and Jesus Christ, growing closer and closer to them. Each Sunday I go to church to receive a spiritual rejuvenation, and to recommit to live my life the way the Savior taught us to live. As often as possible, I also go to the temple, the literal House of the Lord, where I can feel even closer to God, and better understand His plan for us, His children. God loves us so much, and as I seek Him, I feel that love more and more.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

First, we can pray. Prayer is a way we can directly communicate with our Father in Heaven. All you have to do is find a quiet place, and address Heavenly Father, and then spill out your heart. Tell him how you feel, ask him questions, and then listen. But don't listen with your ears, listen with your heart. God will answer you through feelings of peace, comfort, warmth, or even clear concise thoughts to your mind. Close your prayer by saying "in the name of Jesus Christ, amen." The first time may feel a little strange it may feel like you are just talking to a wall. However, as you focus on how you feel, and as you pray more and more, you will realize that God really is there, He does listen, and He really does answer your prayers. Another way you can come to know your Father in Heaven is by reading the Scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon. You will begin to see patterns in how God deals with us as children, and how much He loves us. You can also receive answers to your prayers by reading the scriptures. I have received many answers to prayers just by opening my scriptures and beginning to read. I know God, our Father in Heaven, exists, because I have felt, in my heart, that He does, and I have received COUNTLESS answers to prayers that I have had with my Father in Heaven. Show more Show less
