Hi I'm Peter

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello! I am a forty-three year-old man who lives with his wife of thirteen years, Lovie, and our eight year-old daughter, Amelia, in Ontario, CANADA. I am employed with a private health care service that deals with individuals that suffer from psychological issues, with the goal of attempting to find the necessary resources and support to keep them in their home as long as it is feasible to do so.

Why I am a Mormon

I came to this faith after a lengthy journey. There was a point in my life where I was going to be a Minister in another faith, but after nearly dying, I realized that I could not find any solace within my faith, and knew two things from this: it could not be genuine, and if I knew this, there was no way that I could proclaim it to others as being the way that they could reconcile themselves to their Heavenly Father. It took a very discouraging journey of eight years and many Faiths to find my way here. What impressed me enough to inquire into Mormonism was that it encompasses the structure of Christ’s Church as it is documented within Holy Scripture, and fills the great philosophical quandary of what becomes of those who passed-on never hearing of The Gospel of Jesus Christ while living with the love and compassion of Proxy Ordinances that truly illustrates a benevolent Father in Heaven that desires the return of all of his Children. What also impacted me was the knowledge that our lives have purpose and it is meant for us to live our lives and Strengthen our Testimonies so that we can prove worthy to return Home, and live within our Eternal Family units, too! What KEEPS me within the Faith is the realization that our Heavenly Father is our literal Father, so knows and loves us, and therefore has compassion on us, and not only has provided a way back for us through the great Atoning Sacrifice of Our Loving and Gracious Saviour, Jesus Christ, but it awakened in me the overwhelming and humbling realization that HE WANTS US BACK. Heavenly Father and The Saviour know and love me, want me to be with them, and I know that They have that exact same love for you, too. I humbly Testify to you that this is true, and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will allow you to realize this remarkable Truth and that same feeling of optimism within your life too, if you allow it to be so. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

Like most active Members I hold a few Callings within my Ward. I hold the Melchezidek Priesthood and am an Elder, as well as the Secretary of a Priesthood Holdres Church Group of my Ward. I suppose that being a Convert, I have a special affinity and affection for Missionaries and Missionary Work, so I am also the Assistant to our Ward Mission Leader, and spend much time involved with our local efforts on spreading the News of the Restored Gospel within our ward Boundaries to Investigators, but also in attempting to have our Less Active reawaken to the great beauty and truth that they once saw and realized in this Faith. You see, like anything else, if we become complacent with Faith, we can have it lose its significance within our lives. What I also truly appreciate about being a Member is that the Church realizes that we live in the real world, so therefore realize the temptations and trials of it, and having had a somewhat turbulent past, I am also deeply and actively involved in a service launched by LDS Services and held weekly at our Church that is an Addiction Recovery Programme both as a Facilitator and as an individual in recovery. Much like I mentioned that we cannot take our Faith for granted, we cannot afford to be arrogant and not be aware that we indeed have weaknesses that we should be ever mindful of, and appreciate that it is through the strength we have found in the Gospel, and through the Atonement and Love of the Saviour, and the Grace of Our Heavenly Father, that we are now living free of them.

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Pornography is a Killer of The Spirit. It not only promotes casual sex, but also breaks it down to its most visceral and base components, and removes from it any beauty and purpose. It also tells us what we are to find attractive and erotic, removing our own input and imagination/desires from it. It is exploitive to all involved: from the viewer to the participants, and benefits only the sleaze merchants themselves. It also destroys families in that it removes the intimacy of the Godly Sanctioned Union of Husband and Wife by having expressions that should only be realized inside of this Marriage Union experienced elsewhere and else wise. It further encourages experimentation that could well result in sex outside of the marriage union. How to top the spread of pornography? Avoid it yourself, be vocal in your opposition of it, and offer no corner or tolerance of it in any way when confronted with it from friends or family, such as at bachelor Parties or in the workplace. No good can, or ever has, come from it. It is evil. It is filth. Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Family is central to EVERYTHING! Not only do we, as Mormons, realize that we are literal Children of Heavenly Parents, but how essential the family unit is not only to forming what will, should we prove worthy of the Ordinances performed here during our earthly lives, of Eternal Families with our spouse and children, but how healthy family units strengthen our Communities and enrich our lives. I know that I have come to appreciate and marvel at the grace, dignity, strength and beauty of my own wife, and how her spirituality Blesses and adds so much to my life, but how my life would simply not be complete, here or in the Eternities, without this most worthy Daughter of Zion in it. I am also so grateful for the realization of The Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ in my life as through Church participation and regular attendance, as well as faithful observation of weekly Family Home Evening activities, we keep the Gospel and Gospel Standards alive and as a reality our lives, and therefore the life of our daughter. Seeing these principles lived and employed daily before her, and in the lives of many of her friends, makes it easier for her as she grows-up in a world that for a large part has departed from what the Gospel has set for Standards on Morality and Modesty. The Gospel of Jesus Christ not only strengthens Families, it makes us all realize and appreciate how important Families are to us, as well! Show more Show less

What is faith?

Faith is a deeply personal matter. It is believing in that which is not tangible in a world that is. However, it is the surrender of believing in something greater than oneself that great comfort comes into play. There is also a great sense of peace in knowing that there is a plan in place for everything overall, and us, in particular, and amidst all the chaos and noise and confusion , that the universe is unfolding as it should. That overall, life is indeed, good. Show more Show less
