Hi I'm Shelly

I grew up in Missouri. I am the 5th of 8 kids. I love family record keeping. I'm a wife. I'm a mom. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to a wonderful husband and we have two sons - a 3 year old and an 11 month old. We are currently living the student life while my husband gets his PhD in physics. I have the great opportunity and blessing to stay home with our sons and I love making our house a home. Over the past 3 years of being a stay-at-home mom, I have been able to discover myself in multiple ways. I love being a mom and everything that goes along with that. I also enjoy learning how to sew, cook, and make creative things for our home. I have also discovered that I have a passion for documenting life. I have compiled several books over the past few years that help to preserve my personal and family memories/history.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) because of the joy, peace, love, understanding, perspective, and truth that it brings into my life. I was raised in the church and always saw great blessings come to my family as we lived the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I gained a testimony of the truthfulness of this church little by little as I was growing up, and it has solidified even more on a daily basis as I have gotten older. I have received a witness of the truthfulness of this gospel through prayer, action, and ultimately the witness of the Holy Ghost. I love that the gospel of Jesus Christ gives my life meaning and purpose. It is comforting to know the answers to the basic questions of life such as "where did I come from?", "why am I here?", and "where am I going?" Because of the knowledge of the gospel and my Heavenly Father's plan of salvation for me (and everyone), I have direction in my life.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith everyday by striving to become more like my Savior Jesus Christ. Everyday I try to be a little better - a little kinder, a little more humble, and a little more giving of myself. I try to be the wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend that Heavenly Father would want me to be. I try to share my love of the gospel with my sons. Of course I make plenty of mistakes - but that's where another part of living my faith comes in. I try to allow the atonement of Jesus Christ into my life and for it to change me and my heart. Living my faith is an everyday thing.
