Hi I'm Jill

I'm a professional musician. I'm a swimmer. I'm a mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a musician: I spend a lot of time in rehearsal, and I perform in concerts frequently. I also maintain a small studio of hard-working piano students. I conduct a community women's choir and am an adjunct professor at a local university. I am a mother of five children; this is my first love, responsibility, and focus. I am also a swimmer, and I love hiking and camping.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that Jesus Christ lives and loves me. I know that He restored his Church to the earth through the prophet, Joseph Smith. I have great peace when I live the teachings of Jesus Christ, and I'm unhappy when I don't. I am grateful for the freedom that comes from living the health code (the Word of Wisdom) that the Church teaches. I love being counted among the body of saints, people who strive to be moral and upright, and I love being part of a worldwide women's organization (Relief Society) that focuses on service.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by studying and pondering the scriptures, praying frequently, and fasting. I know that Jesus Christ is with me all the time because I feel His strength buoy me in my challenges. Another expression of my faith is giving service: I visit the homebound, I volunteer in my children's schools, and I teach community classes. I play the organ in our church services, and I teach the adult Sunday School class. I also take the 14- and 15-year old girls on a high adventure hike each year in preparation for the summer Girls Camp, with which I usually help.

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Jill
Everything that we do at church is to worship Jesus Christ and to become like him. We know that by His grace we are saved. The things that we do to follow Jesus Christ don't save us, per se, but help us to become like Him. For example, when I serve other people, I am becoming like Jesus Christ. Because of His Atonement, wherein He paid the price for my sins, I can repent and return to the presence of God, my Father. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Jill
Yes. I wholeheartedly follow the prophet, Thomas S. Monson, with deliberate, conscious choice. The Bible teaches, "Surely the Lord God will do nothing save he revealeth his secret to his servants, the prophets." Amos 3:7 There were prophets in Bible times, and God continues to bless the world with his mouthpiece---His prophet---today. President Monson teaches nothing but the will of God. He teaches us to live moral and honest lives, love and serve other people, avoid pornography, stay out of debt, and be self-reliant. Show more Show less
