Hi I'm Ryan

I am a father of 5, a China historian, writer, teacher, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I love my wife, I love my children, I love Chinese people, I love history, I love being a Mormon!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it brings me so much happiness. At church I gain all the answers to life's deepest questions: what is the purpose of life?, where did I come from?, where do I go after I die? Knowing the true answers to these questions brings much peace and meaning to my life.

How I live my faith

I know that Jesus Christ is my savoir. I know that the Bible and Book of Mormon are true. I believe the things that are written in them. As a historian, I see evidences of the events chronicled in those books in my research. With careful inspection, I also can see how all the great civilizations have risen and fallen according to there adherence to the principles in the gospel of Jesus Christ. History is replete with examples the illustrate the truth of those principles. I am fascinated with China. In China's history I can see evidence of the workings of God among them. First, China's most ancient religion (before Confucius) is nearly identical to the religion found in the Old Testament. I have been writing a book about this topic that will be published this year. It is called: Ancient China and the Hebrews; Two Civilizations One Belief System. It explores China's earliest written records and brings to light their most ancient religion. It shows that they believed in the same God and had the same rituals as the Hebrews (Israelites) just called by different names. Later at the time of Christ, the Chinese also saw the signs of Christ's birth and death and wrote about them in their imperial histories. They recorded the new star and and wrote about a blackout (eclipse of the Sun) at the time of his death 33 years later. The list of evidences go on and on. Even with these evidences, they are not the main reason why I believe in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Book of Mormon. I main reason is that I have prayed and asked God about the Church and its doctrines. My Father in Heaven has answered my prayers and let me know with out any room for doubt that they are true. He really did answer my prayers.
