Hi I'm Jeff

I grew up on a farm in the Pacific Northwest. I'm a teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college professor who teaches undergraduate psychology courses at a Midwest regional public university. My wife and I have 6 children. I enjoy doing home improvement projects and working outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I feel great peace in following the teachings of the Savior. In addition, the LDS church contains all the doctrine and ordinances that are contained in the Bible's description of Jesus Christ's church.

How I live my faith

Our family has regular scripture study, family prayer, and weekly time set aside for being together and discussing gospel principles. We contribute time and money to help the poor and needy. Membership in the church provides me opportunities to serve others through regular visits to fellow members' homes, service projects designed to meet the temporal needs of other members, teaching spiritual messages to the youth, and working with the young men in the Boy Scout program.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

Although the church opposes the practice of homosexuality, a person who has homosexual feelings and does not act on them may participate fully in the church. Regardless of the causes of these feelings, God has made it clear that any sexual activity outside of the bonds of marriage is forbidden. Individuals who struggle with these feelings should know that God loves all his children and difficulties that we face in this life will be acknowledged during our judgment. Marriage between a man and woman provides the proper foundation to bring children into a home that mirrors the pattern of family relationships established in heaven. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

One way to increase our faith in Jesus Christ is to act on his teachings. In John 7:17, Jesus states, "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." When we live in accordance with his teachings, he is bound to bless us. When we recognize the blessings of obedience to His teachings, our faith in Jesus Christ will grow. Show more Show less
