Hi I'm Adam

I grew up in SLC, Utah. I'm a middle child of 5 brothers. I have two loving parents. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an entertainer in the Hughes Brothers Show in Branson, Missouri. I sing, dance and play the Spanish classical guitar. It's a family business. With over 40 family members on stage together daily, USA Today said that we have the "World's Largest Performing Family!" I really enjoy my work because I get to see all of my nieces and nephews everyday. It's a lot of fun to watch the family grow. I also work as a freelance graphic designer and photographer. So, I enjoy working at the computer. Other hobbies include gardening and work on my house.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. All of my family are members and taught me in my youth. I have a very strong heritage in the church. My direct ancestors were best friends with Joseph Smith who founded the Mormon Church. They were the Knight family. Joseph Smith used their wagon to transport the golden plates from the hill Cumorah which were translated into what we know now as the Book of Mormon. The Knights also helped fund part of the translation of the Book of Mormon. I served a two year mission for the Church in Santiago, Chile. Where I had many opportunities to discover what other churches profess and to really study the scriptures. I gained a great love and appreciation for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints aka The Mormons. I know it is God's church here on earth. We have a living prophet today who receives revelations for the world today. Think about it... wouldn't you want to know if God called a prophet to reveal his truths to the world? It is very obvious that there is a great need for a prophet in our day and age. Just watch a movie or see what's on TV. The world is a very confusing place. Immorality is all over the place. I believe there are a lot of good people out there who just need a little guidance. That is why God has called a prophet for us as he did for the Israelites when he called Moses.

How I live my faith

I've had many opportunities to serve in the Church. It's great that in the Church of Jesus Christ we can learn though service. There is no paid clergy. Our clergy does not go to school to become leaders and have occupations. They are called or assigned to certain positions though the inspiration and revelation from God. In my local church I serve in the Priesthood. I oversee the members efforts in something we call "Home Teaching". We are a service oriented church. As we visit other members and non-members in their homes we are able to grow in our love for each other and better understand the gospel of Jesus Christ. He taught us to love one another and to have charity. There isn't any better way then to take a break from your own problems and help others with theirs.

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Adam
Even though I grew up in the church I have had to discover the truth for myself. Through many trials and prayer, I have a strong belief in Jesus Christ. I know he is my Savior. I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God called to restore the fullness of the everlasting gospel to the earth. The fullness of the gospel has not always been available on the earth. There was a great apostasy, a general falling away from the truth, which was prophesied would happen before the Second Coming. Read 2 Thes. 2:3 It is evident historical events that have transpired since the life of Jesus Christ and the Apostles. Look at the Dark Ages. The light of the gospel was nowhere to be found which was also prophesied. Read Amos 8:11 Since that time there has been the Renaissance, which is French for "rebirth" and then the Age of Enlightenment or the Age of Faith. The world came out of the Dark Ages. There was new interest in knowing God's truth. Reformers like Martin Luther and John Calvin helped people come closer to knowing the truth by translating the Bible into the people's native tongue. But without a prophet or an apostle the fullness could not be restored at that time. The world was being prepared for what I believe to be the greatest event since the coming of Christ. At 14 years old in 1820, Joseph Smith wanted to know the truth. There was a lot of religious excitement in his hometown of Palmyra, New York. He would attend the different churches who would argue over the interpretations of the scriptures and disagree with each other. They would interpret the same scriptures to mean completely different things. Look at the world today. How many Christian churches are there? Do they all agree? Joseph was confused as many have been. He believed in the Bible and wanted to be baptized but didn't know which church to join. It was then he read a scripture that had a profound influence on his soul. Read James 1:5 It says that "if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, —that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not and it shall be given him”. Joseph decided to do just that.. ask God. He knelt in a nearby grove of trees and prayed to God. He described his experience: “I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me . . . When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!” Joseph Smith saw and talked with God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. He was told to not join any of the churches. He was later called to be a prophet to the world and the fulness of the gospel was restored through a living prophet who received modern day revelations from God. The greatest part of this whole story is that you don't have to take my word for it or anyone else's for that matter. You can read the Book of Mormon, which is one of the fruits of Joseph Smith, and pray to know for yourself if these things are true. I believe the Spirit will testify to your soul that these things are true. Show more Show less
