Hi I'm Kris

I'm a songwriter. I'm an actor. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As a college student, I'm studying Media Music and loving every minute of it. Music practically dominates every aspect of my life seeing as it is what I study, what I do as a hobby, and what I do a time filler. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I think that families are the most important thing that God has given us. Growing up in a family of four boys and our parents, we got a lot of chances to spend time together. From a very young age all four of us boys started playing competitive ice hockey as our dad also volunteered as a coach. Growing up I always took this family activity for granted. We would go to practice twice a week, go out of town for games every weekend, and as far as I was concerned it was just a normal part of life. It wasn't until later that I realized how great a blessing it was to be able to spend so much time with my entire family intact. In the year 2002 when I was about 15 years old I was in a car accident with my older brother Kory, who was 16. The accident happened on December 23rd, two days before Christmas, and my brother didn't make it. I suffered from a frontal hematoma which ended my hockey playing days for six months. The loss of my brother hit my family hard, but it was only with the doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints that we were able to pull through it. As members of that church we believed that those family relationships that we had formed together in all those long road trips to play hockey could be forever. Our family may be separated now, but through Jesus Christ we'll all be together again some day in the future. I'm a Mormon because I know that families are eternal.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by utilizing a wonderful opportunity to teach missionaries who will then go out and tell the world about the wonderful news that we have. I teach missionaries Portuguese who are heading to Portuguese speaking countries such as Portugal, Cape Verde, Brazil, and Mocambique.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

As I was a missionary serving in the beautiful country of Portugal, I had the opportunity to talk to many wonderful people about the Mormon religion. There was one question that bothered me for a long time. Many people would ask me, " Why do I need to change churches? Are you telling me that my church is wrong?" I didn't know how to respond. I know that all churches have some degree of good in them, but even that being said, I KNEW that this church was true. Finally, I realized the exact reason why Mormon missionaries proselyte. I realized that I wasn't telling anybody that I, MYSELF, thought that all the other churches were wrong. I was just translating the message that Jesus Christ gave to Joseph Smith when Joseph was called to be a prophet. Christ told the boy Joseph that no other true church was on the planet, and called him to restore the one true church. Those were Christ's words and not mine. After that, I knew my message and my purpose in being a missionary. Show more Show less
