Hi I'm Tad

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a student currently currently enrolled in an east coast medical school.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised Mormon. As such, I was always surrounded by family members that lived good lives and taught me Gospel principles. I never had any single, earth-shattering experiences that suddenly affirmed my faith. Rather, my faith stems from innumerable smaller yet none-the-less powerful experiences that have taught me that the Gospel as taught by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I've held many callings and responsibilities in church. I've served as a missionary, a teacher, and in many other responsibilities. I always strive to live my life according to the Gospel. I attend church regularly and I worship privately on a daily basis.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Tad
Joseph Smith, Jr. was a prophet, like Moses, Abraham and Isaiah. He was called by God to restore the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth. In 1820, Joseph was 14 years-old and living in Palmyra, New York. At that time, there was a large-scale religious revival happening in Palmyra, with dozens of churches, all claiming to be God's only true church. This confused Joseph, because he knew that they couldn't all be right, but he also had no way of knowing which one was, in fact, true. He spent a great deal of time reading The Bible, hoping to find the answers to his questions. One day while he was reading, he happened upon James 1:5 in the New Testament. "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him." Joseph had never been so impacted by any verse of scripture. He knew now the solution to his problem. He could ask God. He decided to do just that. One morning in the spring, he went to a small grove of trees near his home to pray to God and ask Him which of the many churches was true. In Joseph's own words, this is what happened. "I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which decended gradually until it fell upon me. When the light rested upon me, I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spoke, calling me by name, and said, pointing to the other, 'This is my Beloved Son. Hear Him!'" (Joseph Smith-History 1:16-17) In answer to his prayer, Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ, appeared to Joseph in that grove. Joseph was told, among other things, that none of the churches of the world were the Lord's true church. Joseph was later called to be a prophet and commanded to restore Christ's true church to the world. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I know that anyone can come to this knowlege as well. All you have to do is ask God, as Joseph did. He will tell you, by the Holy Ghost that these things are true. Show more Show less
