Hi I'm Rob and I'm a Mormon

I'm a Husband, a Father, an Aerospace Engineer, a Pilot. I'm a Catholic Convert, I have found home

About Me

I'm a 63 year young husband and father of two young adult children. I've recently discovered I have a rather unique ancestry. I was born to an intuitive unwed Native American mother 16 years of age who put me up for adoption. I was blessed to be adopted by loving parents through a Catholic adoption agency when I was 6 months old. By means of genealogical research I've discovered I'm 1/2 German, 1/2 Chippewa Cree (Native American) - Woah! I had grown up thinking I was caucasian of English and Irish decent, that is what my adoptive parents thought me to be. This innocent mistake pales in comparison to the wonderful up-bringing I was blessed with. My Heavenly Father showed his love for me through my adoptive parents. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and moved to Northern California in my high school years. Ever since I was 4 years old I wanted to be a pilot. I started college in the San Francisco Bay area enrolled in a professional pilot program. Scholarships funded my pilot training and I was able to attain my Commercial Pilot License and Instrument Rating by the age of 20. Economic conditions at the time forced the major airlines to furlough many pilots, so I changed majors and pursued my love of aviation as an aeronautical engineering student. I've since spent 30+ years as an engineer in the Aerospace Industry. Aviation has been a major influence in my life but my decision and commitment to be baptized and become a Mormon is the greatest influence.

Why I am a Mormon

I know living the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the sure way for me to become the man/husband/father/priesthood holder that Heavenly Father intended - to become my best self in this mortal life.

How I live my faith

I live righteously, I pray fervently, I study diligently, I try to be my best self as much as I can. I am currently serving as a Ward Missionary Leader which is blessing, as it is perfect preparation for me serving a full time mission in the future. I also currently serve as a Church Audio Visual Specialist where I ensure, conferences, firesides, special programs/activities have the needed technology and equipment for effective and inspiring presentations. In the past I have served in the Church's Young Mens organization, teaching 11 - 18 year old young men. I constantly look for ways to be of service to my friends, neighbors, acquaintances and people in need, this is a best way I know how to show my love for Jesus Christ, my Savior.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Rob and I'm a Mormon
Being a convert, I see the unprecedented growth of the Church is due to several fundamental doctrines that are not only desperately needed by those searching for the meaning of this mortal existence but are uniquely simple and easy to understand with your heart as compared to other doctrines. The most profound, from my standpoint, is the encouragement and teaching that we can and should seek a first-person relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Church leaders universally teach all who will listen how to receive personal revelation and how to attract and have the Holy Spirit to be with us, that we may directly receive Heavenly Father's loving guidance through the "still small voice" of the Holy Spirit. This is huge! Secondly, Heavenly Father is still speaking to mankind through modern prophets and that the Book of Mormon is indeed modern scripture, not altered by men over the past two millennium. The Book of Mormon is intended for us in these later days as "Another Testament of Jesus Christ". The Book of Mormon being approximately 180 years old has not had the opportunity to be corrupted with the ideas of men. Joseph Smith Jr. being chosen by Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ to restore the True Gospel indicates to me this is the true Doctrine. The direct Divine intervention that Joseph and others witnessed is a clear sign from Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ that we are to follow this doctrine. For those seeking and desiring the truth, like me, this is home. Show more Show less
