Hi I'm Dwyn

I'm a writer and an award winning artist. I design and manage websites. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother of four and grandmother to 24, many of whom share my interest in writing and art. I did pastel portraits from photos until my eyes went bad. Now I design and manage three websites of my own. The computer is my window on the world, especially important since I am sensitive to the chemicals in perfume, carpets, car exhaust, etc. and don't go out much. Although I don't attend meetings as often as others I consider myself an active member of the Church.

Why I am a Mormon

Someone said to me, "Well, you're a fourth generation Mormon," implying that made it easier for me to believe and to be active in the Church. Not true, I'm just like everyone else, with good and bad examples from my own family. In all the confusion over what happened in the past, in Church history and recent history, there is only one clear voice, the still small voice of the Holy Ghost bearing testimony of the Father and the Son. The promise is: "do my will and you shall know of me." I do His will as close as I am able and hear/feel that I am on the right path. This is a great comfort to me.

How I live my faith

Lest anyone think I selfishly protect myself from being around others so I'm not sick with headaches from perfume, etc. - actually I'm protecting them from me. That inner watchdog that keeps us from blurting out really stupid things is put to sleep by the chemicals so that I'm more like someone under the influence of alcohol. I can live with embarrassment but I don't want to hurt anyone or teach the wrong things or represent my Savior as a member of his church in innappropriate ways. I live my religion in comparative isolation. I hear about others like myself, we immerse ourselves in family history, we share stories from the past, and the pictures we find, with our extended family. I put our stuff online in a little website. Others in my situation have found other ways of doing His work, but I'm sure they all pray as I do that our children and grandchildren aren't influenced by our seeming inactivity.
