Hi I'm Lewis

I’m an intarsia artist and enthusiast. I’m a musician. I’m a relational database expert. I'm a husband and father. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In my profession, I specialize in the installation, upgrades and maintenence of Human Resources information systems for large, multinational companies. These systems heavily rely on relational databases and test my analytical skills. Outside of work, I set my analytical mind aside and enjoy several creative outlets. For many years, I have been involved with the intarsia woodworking art form. Intarsia uses pieces of different colored wood that are cut, shaped, and fitted together to create a three-dimensional picture. Music has always played an important part of my life. I have played the piano from the age of eight and I am an accomplished organist. I also volunteer my time as a graphic artist and webmaster for a non-profit youth organization that inspires the youth to realize and live to their full potential through the art of entertainment. My sweetheart and I have been married for 28 years and we were blessed to raise two wonderful sons. Now in their young adult years, they are a joy to us.

Why I am a Mormon

I have found great peace, joy, and fulfillment being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The teachings of the Church and my faith in Jesus Christ have given my life a steady perspective and direction in an ever-changing world. My faith has sustained me through dark times and trials. I feel the love of God in my life and of His love for all those around me. I am blessed to be a part of a church that emphasizes service to your fellow man as one of its core teachings.

How I live my faith

The Church teaches that we should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and to do many things of our own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness. We are also taught that we serve God by serving our fellow beings. I try to reach out to those in my community who need a helping hand, whether or not they share my faith. I give volunteer service to help local food banks, recording books for the blind, teaching computer skills, and lending time and skills to community youth organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America. I have had many other opportunities to serve within the Church including a full-time mission to Mexico in my younger years and more recently as a religious volunteer teaching the gospel in the state prison system.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No, we do not worship Joseph Smith. As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we worship the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and Redeemer. Jesus Christ is central to our faith and worship. We revere, honor, and respect Joseph Smith as a prophet who was divinely appointed to restore the gospel of Jesus Christ and His church once again to the earth. We do not worship Joseph Smith any more than other Christians worship Moses, Abraham, Peter, or Paul. Like these ancient prophets, Joseph Smith taught the revealed word of God. Joseph Smith is due respect as are all servants of God, but we reserve our worship for God, our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
