Hi I'm John

I enjoy sci-fi, golf, and writing elegant code for work and pleasure. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the lucky husband to a wonderful woman and father to our eight busy children. I'm blessed to be able to spend my work-day doing the best job in the world. (computer programming, ftw!) I enjoy golf and have an awesome slice.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and was baptized as a child primarily because of my faith and trust in my parents and what they taught me about a loving Savior Jesus Christ and a loving Father in Heaven. I'm a Mormon today because of many spiritual experiences I've had living the gospel. Most of those experiences were small and incremental... others were more profound steps forward. I've learned so much spiritually through study of the scriptures and prayer but I feel that my greatest learning has come from the "doing" part of the gospel. In John 7:16-17 Jesus talks about the relationship between doing and knowing and I've found that to be very true in my life. I know God lives and that Jesus is the Christ and Redeemer of the world. I know they love us and because of that love want us to return to live with them. I know the scriptures (Bible, Book of Mormon, etc.) are true and I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's church on earth today led by his prophet. I know it's true... and ultimately that's why I'm a Mormon. That knowledge came through the Holy Ghost to me and because of that I know it will come to others seeking to learn and do the Lord's will.

How I live my faith

Through prayer, scripture study, trying to keep the commandments and serving others I seek for God's influence in my life each day. I know we're all children of a loving Heavenly Father and I try to think of that often to help shape my view of myself and others and to guide how my wife and I raise our children.
