Hi I'm Bill

I grew up on my father's cattle ranch. I developed hazardous waste treatment technology. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I are parents of 4 and now we are enjoying our grandchildren. I retired after 36 years as a chemical engineer mostly developing better ways to treat nuclear and hazardous waste. Our family enjoys water and snow skiing and being outdoors. There are miles of flat water just begging me to come ski. I've enjoyed being an adviser to many of our church young men most of my life. Since retirement, my wife and I have enjoyed being full-time missionaries in Taiwan (and no, we didn't learn Mandarin) and we are are currently serving in the Columbia River Temple.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel of Jesus Christ has great meaning in my life. I have found by direct experience that living the principles He proclaimed and following the teachings of his prophets on the earth today is the way to experience real happiness in life. His teachings are found not only in the Bible, but also in the Book of Mormon and other scripture. My scientific background helps me better understand and appreciate many things taught in the scriptures. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I fellowship with others who are doing their best to live a Christ-like life and that strengthens my resolve to continually improve. I know that Jesus has provided the path by which we can have supreme happiness in this life and in the life to come.

How I live my faith

The Church has no paid ministry but is staffed by volunteers such as I. Serving as a youth adviser has been one of my favorite activities. It's so fulfilling to work with a young man and see him gradually recognize and have the strength to stop self-defeating behavior and adopt a lifestyle that leads to true happiness. It's fun to talk with men I took camping 20 years ago and remissness about those days and how they have since followed Jesus' teachings which is leading them in the path of happiness. At other times I have served in church leadership positions where I had the opportunity to influence local ward and stake activities and influence many lives. As a priesthood bearer I enjoy visiting the homes of members and helping lift them spiritually as well as looking out for their physical needs. I'm normally singing as I return home from serving in these ways.
