Hi I'm Karen

I love children. I am a Montessori teacher and I'm learning American Sign Language. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I spend a lot of time taking kids to their activities. We talk about things while in the car. We discuss ways that they can be good friends, the challenges they have and how to choose what is right when it is hard. I am taking college classes online while they are at school. I feel like education is important for them and for me. My husband and I like to be outdoors, hiking, playing in the water and being with friends. We get together with good food at our house and love the get to know each other.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it helps me to be more Christlike. I feel His love and want others to be as happy as I am. The teachings of the Savior are clear and give me direction in my life. I am a better parent because of the things I learn at church and practice at home. I feel like the Spirit of the Holy Ghost guides each day as I share my love with others. I share that love by looking for and doing kind things for others. I find answers to difficult situations in the scriptures and as I pray I feel the love of God which helps me through tough times.

How I live my faith

I am a better parent because of the things I learn at church and practice at home. I love the values that I can share with the children as I teach them in class on Sunday. We talk about the things our children have learned and how to apply them in our life just as Jesus did. I feel like the Spirit of the Holy Ghost guides each day as I share my love with others. I share that love by looking for and doing kind things for others. I find answers to difficult situations in the scriptures and as I pray I feel the love of God which helps me through tough times. I feel like I can receive answers to my prayers and often ideas come to mind that I would not have thought of on my own.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Karen
I have had two of my sons serve as Mormon missionaries. They both saved as much money as they could from the time they were young. When they served a mission, our family contributed the rest of the money that funded their mission. We felt that the blessing that came through the sacrifice of money and the service they gave was worth it. They loved the people they taught and saw wonderful changes in peoples lives. We have three more sons planning to serve in the future. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about family?

Karen
My family is of most value to me. As infants I can feel their incredible spirits hungry and searching for nourishment physically and emotionally. As children, the wonder and excitement they have for learning and becoming autonomous. I see the way they cling to truth and try to be good. As teens they branch out and discover their independence and learn of their dependence on God. As young adults they solidify those things they have discovered. I love my family and I am excited to see all these changes. As a Mormon I am grateful that the church puts such an emphasis on families. We believe that our family will be together forever and so that gives us responsibility to teach them the best we can to love and serve God, Show more Show less
