Hi I'm Hyrum

I just got married to the love of my life in the Salt Lake Temple.

About Me

I grew up in a small town so I learned to love the outdoors and finding creative ways to make fun. I love to try new things and learn about people and cultures. I lived in another country for two years teaching people about Christ and trying to help them get closer to him. I loved it. I've also lived in several different states which has helped me broaden my horizons.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a lover of truth and progression. Hence, my whole life I feel like I've searched for truth and tried to follow it. One truth that I've learned is that when I follow truth, it brings me happiness. As I live by truth, I feel progression and accomplishment and am able to help and serve others. I find purpose in my life. Every doctrine taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints that I have studied and applied, I have found to be true. This is because Christ is the source of all truth and he directs the church through direct revelation. God is our Heavenly Father and has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as mans. He loves us and provided a plan for our happiness. Jesus Christ is central to that plan. He restored his ordinances and truth in our day through a prophet just as he did in previous ages. That prophet in our day was Joseph Smith. Today the living prophet is Thomas Monson. These are a few of the truths I've learned. If you too are a seeker of truth, I invite you to learn about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

Basically, I strive to follow Christ's example the best I can. I try to love God and my neighbors. Of course I make many mistakes, but to help me do this I need a lot of reminders. So I study the scriptures every morning, I pray individually and with my wife, I go to church every Sunday, and I discuss religion with just about everybody I meet. I like to focus my efforts on becoming someone better with the help of Jesus Christ and God.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Hyrum
There are a few methods of learning truth. One is the scientific method of experiment and proof. Another is just by seeing something tangible you know it is there. But a lot of truth is abstract and can only be understood by feeling and experience. How do I know God exists if I can't see him? It's just something I've felt and experienced. Because God knew it would be important for us to learn and know of these types of abstract truths, he provided a great method for us. He sent the spirit or Holy Ghost. This personage of spirit can speak to our minds and hearts. Some of the methods He uses are peace, confidence, comfort, joy, love, goodness, excitement, and guidance. These are feelings I've felt when I know something is true. So to find out if Mormonism is true, the best method is to meet with missionaries, study and ponder about the Book of Mormon, and ask God with a sincere heart if it is true of not. He will tell you in your thoughts and your feelings in his own time. But I promise he will give you an answer. Show more Show less
