Hi I'm Dosha

I live in Oklahoma. I'm a wife, mom and nana and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I have 5 children between us and one little grand-daughter. We are what you would call "empty-nesters'. I am a RN and work full time for a physician. I love spending time with my family, gardening, reading, traveling and going to movies, concerts and OU football games. (Boomer Sooner!) I love sharing my faith with anyone who ask. I feel lucky to live in Oklahoma because its strenghtens my testamony every time I get to share it!

Why I am a Mormon

I first learned about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from a friend. Growing up Catholic in Oklahoma, the only thing I knew about Mormons was that Donny and Marie (which I watched their show every week) were Mormons- lol. When I actually learned about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and how they know me, and love me it just all made sense. I feel I had the same questions that a lot of other people do.- Why are we here? What is my purpose? How's does the Atonement of Christ relate to me? As I read my scriptures and prayed, I recieved answers to my questions. That is one of the things that I love about the Church. It teaches personal revelation for ones own life! I have been a member for 25 yrs now and can not even imagine my life without it. It really defines me on so many levels. I am so happy for the knowledge that I am truely a daughter of a loving Heavenly Father. He knows me personally and knows the things that I stand in need of. I have had many of my prayers answered so specifically that I know he knows me. I am happy for the knowledge that family relationships are not just for this life. A lot of people from other faiths believe that also- why is that? There is no scripture in the Bible that references this. They believe it because it is true!! It is an eternal truth and the Holy Ghost testifies of it!! As a nurse I have dealt with many people who have lost loved ones. This is the one thing that they all say at that devesting time. The Holy Ghost, the Comforter sends this witness at that time to ease the pain. I know that we have a prophet on the earth today, just like in Biblical times. His name is Thomas S Monson. I am grateful for his constant commitment to testify of the things that we must do to return to our Heavely Father, just like the prophets of old. I am grateful for the scriptures. I have found answers to my questions, comfort when I need it, and knowledge of who I truely am, my life, its purpose.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be the best person I can everyday. I try to start my day with personal scripture study and prayer. I attend church every Sunday and love it! I love that everyone at church has some part. I have done many jobs or callings at church. I have been in the Young Womens (girls 12-18), I have been in Primary (children 18mo -11yr), I have been a teacher in Relief Society, a Camp leader. Right now I am a Ward Missionary. To me being a ward missionary is really being a friend who is a member of your ward. Its the hardest calling I have had, because you cant fake anything about it. You must genuinely love people. You have to be a real friend. In doing so, you learn about people and their lives and circumstances. Where they are coming from and where they are. Just like any other friend, you love them so you laugh with them, cry with them, worry with them, cheer when something great has happened and help when they need it. I am lucky that I get to serve my mission with my very own special missionary companion - my husband!! It gives us a lot of opportunity to serve together. And have you ever noticed that when you see someone serving another, it just makes you love that person even more? Yep...thats just an added bonus!
