Hi I'm Kristyn

I'm a California girl raising my kids in Texas. I love doing family history. I'm a mom, a violinist, a cyclist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mom, a wife, a cyclist, a violinist, and a volunteer. I love keeping busy and always have a project going.

Why I am a Mormon

I was "raised" a member of the church, but I found that I wasn't converted to the gospel until my college years. More recently, I felt that I really needed to read the Book of Mormon from start to finish- something that I've never done. I set a goal of reading at least something everyday, even just one verse. I knew that it would be hard finding time since I have young children and am involved with the elementary school and such. I made a goal to try to utilize as many quiet moments in my day that did come for reading. The first week was great- breezed through 1 Nephi. Then the next week my husband was away on business and I found that by the time I got the kids in bed at night I was exhausted- I think I missed a day or two and trudged through 2 Nephi. However, I noticed as I moved on into Jacob and especially as I got into Mosiah that my desire to read increased. I wanted to read more and more and more everyday. I carried by Book of Mormon around with me EVERYWHERE and was reading a page here, page there- sometimes accumulating 30 pages a day. This helped offset the busy, tired days where I had to hold my eyes open to get a chapter in before bedtime. As I read, I really noticed a few things change- first, my prayers. I had a greater desire to pray more and more fervently. I felt like my prayers were more of a two-way communication with my Heavenly Father, instead of just talking to my pillow and I felt and saw my prayers being answered much more clearly. I have felt a greater desire to serve and a greater desire to share the gospel. I finished reading the entire book in about 6 weeks. Finishing the Book from start to finish provided a wonderful sense of accomplishment, but more importantly I felt a witness through the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I'm grateful that I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and that I have the Book of Mormon, another testament of Jesus Christ, in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be the best Christian that I can, and usually it's just doing the little things. I pray everyday morning and night. I read out the scriptures. I attend church on Sunday and help out with the music at the congregational meeting. I make phone calls to those who might be ill or need of help, take them a meal, or help with their home. I teach my children about Jesus Christ and I teach them how to pray.
