Hi I'm Karen Almeida

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to crochet, read, coupon, and listen to uplifting music. I am just learning easy crocheting patterns for a number of things. I enjoy Cristian fiction set in the Amish and LDS faiths. The Fire of the Covenant and The Undaunted are two of my favorite books. I like spening less on things that I can store and have use of in an emergency. Using coupons wisely also helps the budget. I enjoy listening to the music on ylds radio on my computer. I enjoy family history and learning about my relatives. It is like a mystery to me and each piece of information I gather makes them more real to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I searched and explored many faiths as an adult. There were a number of things I was taught as I grew up Catholic that just did not make sense to me. When I married my husband we were married in the local LDS church. Will had been away from it for decades, but still believed it to be true. The week we were married, he had a tooth go bad and asked for a priesthood blessing. He felt it was important for me to witness. We were married on Saturday and started attending sacrement on Sunday. I met with the bishop and told him I wished to learn more. The missionaries came and a month later I was baptized. I felt the sweetness of the spirit when I first read what I was asked to by the missionaries. I have come to know that Joseph Smith was a prophet. I knew that President Hinkley was a prophet when I heard him speak. Such authority can not be made up. The Book of Mormon is real to me as are the truths within. When President Hinkley died and President Monson was called as our prophet, It felt so right. Though not well versed at that time as to who the next prophet might be, I felt the confirmation of the spirit when President Monson was called.

How I live my faith

I help out with family history. I enjoy helping others to gather information and come to know their ancestors. I enjoy getting to know sisters as we visit teach. Our ward is big and it gives me the opportunity to become better acquainted and make friends with sisters. I feel like when I am serving I am uplifted and served.
