Hi I'm Josh M.

I've lived in Utah all my life, I love sports, lifting weights, and working with my hands. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Right now I'm in my last year of undergraduate school, working on a Bachelors degree in Spanish and Criminal Justice. I served a two-year mission in New Jersey, which is where I learned Spanish. I loved speaking the language and working with Hispanics, so I decided to make it a career goal. Right now I work in juvenile corrections. When I'm not studying or working I like to spend time at the gym, hang out with friends, visit family, read, and whenever I get a chance I LOVE to fly fish! Most importantly I love to serve in my church. Being a Mormon, I am given so many opportunities to serve others! I learned from my service as a missionary in New Jersey that we are never closer to the Lord than when we find ourselves in the service of our fellow man.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the LDS church, so it's been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, but that's not the only reason why I'm a Mormon. There came a point in my life when I desired to know for myself if what I had been taught my whole life was true. Our religion falls or stands upon the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, so I put it to the test. I read it, and followed the challenge that it issues to all those who read it, "And when ye shall recieve these things, I would exhort you to ask of God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost" Moroni 10:4 I did that, and I'll never forget the incredible love that I felt from my Heavenly Father as I knelt and prayed, asking in faith to know if that book was true. I stand as a witness to the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, it is the word of God. Through that, and many other experiences, I have come to know that Jesus is the true and living son of God, that he did suffer and die for us that we may have a way to find forgiveness of our sins

How I live my faith

I serve as a Sunday school teacher in my ward. I teach youth from ages 16 to 17, and I love it! The kids are so fun to be with and they always surprise me with their insights and testimonies. In my class I try to relate the teachings in the scriptures to today's circumstances. Youth today face many diverse temptations, so it's important that they learn to apply the teachings we find in the scriptures to their own lives and the situations they face every day. I also serve as a home teacher by visiting several families in the ward on a regular basis. It's awesome to get to know the people that I visit as we discuss the gospel and as I lend a helping hand in any way that I can. In my personal life, I believe that living my faith is something i need to do on a daily basis, not just on Sundays. I'm not perfect by any means, but I know that as I strive to be better every day Heavenly Father will help me to overcome my imperfections. He wants us to be the best that we can, so of course He will help us as we diligently try to follow the example of His son, Jesus Christ.
