Hi I'm Becky

I'm a wife and mother, a graduate student and a cyclist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to learn, especially about science. Sometimes I chose to put my educational and career opportunities on hold while raising children, other times I have been able to do both. I believe in the importance of the influence of women in all spheres of life, including the home. Right now I am working toward a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience. On weekends my husband and I cycle together.

Why I am a Mormon

I have attended services of other faiths and thought deeply about what I believe. I believe in the goodness of God and that He helps us through our trials. I believe in the importance of covenants. These are promises we make with God in which He makes promises in return. I believe that the gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by the LDS Church helps me draw closer to God than I could through any other means.

How I live my faith

I pray and read my scriptures everyday. I try to be the kind of person that Jesus was and to be helpful to others in their path through life. I do this by supporting community educational programs and trying to help others reach their educational goals. In my congregation I serve in the Relief Society, an organization for women, and am responsible for religious education and basic career education for the women in our congregation who desire that.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Becky
My husband and I just celebrated our 25th anniversary. I know that it takes work, flexibility and a sense of humor to make a healthy marriage, but it is possible. I love my husband deeply and cannot imagine a heaven without having a relationship with him there. I am so grateful that God is willing to make covenants with us promising us that we can be together forever if we obey His commandments, such as being faithful to each other and helping other people. Because of the covenants I have made I will also be able to associate with my children and I am very grateful for this, too. Show more Show less
