Hi I'm Larry

I'm a retired U.S. Army chaplain and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm a life-long member of the Church, married for over 40 years and have three married children and 11 wonderful grandchildren. My wife and I have lived in Hawaii for over 20 years raising our family, enjoying the weather and the beach, and living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I fulfilled a full-time mission in New England, graduated from college, and was drafted into the Army to serve in Viet Nam. My professional career was in aerospace and telecommunications. I served in the Army for 35 years and retired four years ago. My hobbies include, ham radio, photography and outdoor sports.

Why I am a Mormon

It was easy for me to be a Mormon since I was 'born in the Church'. Most of my younger years were spent in growing up where there were few Mormons. I learned at an early age that I had to stand on my principles. My mom would often tell me, "Honor your Priesthood". The Church and it's principles provided a firm foundation for me as I matured to adulthood. By obeying the commandments of God and living by the Spirit, my life has brought many wonderful blessings. My wife and children brought me the courage and the strength to meet lifes' challenges and to do my best in all things. The Lord has truly blessed our family.

How I live my faith

I am currently responsible for emergency communications in our local ward, stake and region. I use amateur(ham) radio as a 'tool' for emergencies and teach others about how to become involved in emergency prepardness. My currrent calling in the Church is Finance Clerk. I am also a volunteer resource instuctor in the US Army teaching marriage enhancement/divorce prevention course.

Are Mormons Christians?

I was asked this a lot when I served in the Army. The title of the Church, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" should convey to others that we are Christians. We are the restored Christian Church; the same Church that was on the earth and led by Jesus Christ over 2000 years ago. Show more Show less
