Hi I'm Josh

and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 26 years old, born and raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have a background in Finance, but I'm going back to school full time to begin a career in Social Psychology. I hope to one day be a university professor so that I can help to better educate individuals on how to understand themselves, as well as the world around them.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon for the same reason everyone who has a strong testimony of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a Mormon... That is, because I know that this church is true. I have read The Book of Mormon, and learned for myself that it is true. I have learned for myself that our Savior lives, and he loves us, and wants us to come to him. I have learned for myself that Joseph Smith was a true Prophet of our Heavenly Father, and that he received revelation from Heavenly Father, and his Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to begin the restoration of the true Gospel on the earth. I know for myself that my Father in Heaven loves me, and has a great many works for me to do while here on this earth. And I know all of these things, because the power of the Holy Spirit has made them known to me, as I have searched, pondered and prayed diligently for answers. And I do so testify to any of you who do not share an unshakable knowledge of the truth of this Gospel, that you too may receive confirmation of its truth with an absolute certainty by the same means as I have.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by loving others. To love my Heavenly Father first, and to love my fellow man as I love myself is my ultimate goal each day. Though I fail, miserably most days, I am comforted by the fact that the Lord Jesus Christ has made possible a way for me to continue on "failing forward" each day, until one day long after this mortal life, I am able to do perfectly what he has asked of me. I live my faith by doing my best to keep the Commandments, and practice obedience to Heavenly Father. I live my faith by turning to Heavenly Father in all things, and seeking his guidance pertaining to all of the various decisions life presents me with. I do this because I know that I will nearly always make the wrong choice if I lean only to my own understanding, so I turn to Heavenly Father instead. I live my faith by doing my best to fulfill my callings in the church and by doing my best to be a worthy representative of this wonderful Church in every area of my life.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A 'testimony' that members of the LDS church speak of is their witness of the truth of the things which they have learned. When a person has a desire to know of the truth, and begins to seek it out, the Holy Spirit will confirm to that person the truth that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live, and have restored the true gospel to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith in these latter days. Once a person has experienced a confirming witness of the truth of these things through the power of the Holy Spirit, they then gain a testimony of these truths, and are eager to share their testimony with others, so that others may also know of these things.
