Hi I'm Tammy

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Some of my hobbies/interests include: making homemade soap, blogging, cooking, sewing, watching college football, family history, learning/education, gardening. Education/degrees: BS biology with a minor in psychology DPM Doctor of Podiatric Medicine

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints because it brings me much happiness in my life. Living the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only way to be truly happy in life. I know the Gospel of Jesus Christ was restored to the earth, in its fullness, through the prophet Joseph Smith. I know The Book of Mormon to be the word of God, as another Testament of Jesus Christ. I also believe the Bible to be the word of God, as far as it is translated correctly. The Book of Mormon complements the Bible. We have a living prophet on the earth today, even Thomas S. Monson. Who leads and guides The Church through revelation, as prophets of old. The Lord has also called 12 apostles, as in the days when he walked upon the earth. I am so thankful for my Savior, Jesus Christ, whose atonement made it possible to live again with Him and our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as a teacher to the women who are 18 and older in my congregation. I use the most recent teachings/talks from prophets and apostles as a guide for my lessons.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

We believe all people to be children of our Heavenly Father. However, homosexuality is a sin. Men and women were created to complement each other in raising families. Adam and Eve were commanded to multiply and replenish the earth, as are we. The family unit is sacred and must be protected. Marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God. Homosexuality and same-sex marriage are an abomination. Although our Heavenly Father loves all of his children, he cannot look upon sin with the least degree of allowance. Show more Show less

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

Our bodies are called temples because they house our spirits. Our bodies are a gift from our Heavenly Father. Therefore, we need to treat them with respect and reverence. We should not put harmful substances into our bodies. We should not deface our bodies with tattoos and piercings. We should dress modestly and be chaste. The Holy Ghost cannot dwell in unholy temples. If we want the Lord's Spirit to be with us, we need to take care of our bodies, and treat them with respect and reverence. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

The priesthood is the authority to act in the name of God. This authority was taken from the earth during the apostasy of which Timothy spoke. The priesthood was restored to the earth in its fullness, to the prophet Joseph Smith, from John the Baptist, and Peter James and John. Show more Show less
