Hi I'm Amy

I love music, I love my family, I love myself, and most of all, I love life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a typical college student. I'm not afraid of who I am. I am totally me. i wear different colored flip flops, cool hats, long striped socks, and have a ton of fun. I'm a little bit shy at first, but isn't everyone? I go to class, get home, eat something not healthy, and study until something distracts me. I live my life the way I want to live it. I'm not afraid to have fun. However, I've got a serious side too. I love music. It brings me peace on bad days. It takes my mind off of things and helps me find clarity. I was Drum Major of the marching band when I was in high school and plan on continuing my music education. I am a Biology major with a Ballroom Dance minor. I love my life, my family, and my friends. But most importantly, I know who I am. I'm a Daughter Of God. And I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I Mormon? That's a silly question. I'm Mormon because I KNOW. I know that the church is the true church. I'm not afraid of that. I'm not afraid to know. I know that I have a Heavenly Father who loves ME. He's not a scary God who can't wait to punish me. He loves me, and He wants to help me succeed. I've felt His love and His power in my life everyday. He is constantly blessing me and taking care of me. He guides me through my life. I know that Jesus Christ is my savior. He died for me, and for you, and for everyone else on this planet. He loves us and understands us more than we can comprehend. I know this. I know He understands me and has been through what I feel everyday. He has felt every pain I feel. Whether it is a heartbreak, a physical ailment, or the sorrow that comes when we make a mistake. He knows me, and loves me. He died for me. I know that The Book of Mormon is true. I have read it, and I have prayed to know of its truth. There have been times in my life when I have been unsure, but something happens and all the doubt is washed away. I'm not perfect, and I've made mistakes, but I know that I am a Daughter of God no matter what I have done. I love knowing this. It brings me joy in my everyday life. Because I know that there is someone up there rooting for me all the way every single day. He wants to hear from me and listens when I pray. I think of how much my earthly parents love me and want to hear from me, and I think of how much He must love me and want to know what's going on and how I'm feeling. I know He is there and I know He loves me. I have seen the gospel change lives of those around me. I have seen how happy it makes them. I know how happy it makes me. I love being Mormon. It is who I am when I am my best.

How I live my faith

I've held several callings in my wards. I've been in the presidencies in the Young Woman's classes, I've done visiting teaching, and I've also been on the Activities committee in one of my wards.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Amy
No, not all Mormons are required to serve a mission. Brothers are strongly encouraged to serve missions, but there are still many good people who do not. Sometimes the circumstances in the person's life will not allow them to serve, but many Mormons WANT to serve. It's two years out of an eternity. In the long run, is it really that big of a sacrifice? Also, Sisters are encouraged to go on missions if they so choose. It is completely up to them and where they are in their lives when they reach that time. Going on a mission is a personal choice between you and the Lord. No one can make that choice for you.
