Hi I'm Travis

I'm a missionary and I'm Mormon.

About Me

I played football all through high school and also participated in Student Government at the High School i attended. I would serve as the VP of Communications, which meant I was the one doing the morning announcements, doing weekly newsletters, and making sure there were posters up all over the school. After high school I went to college at USU and then played rugby for their club team. I wasn't very good but it was so much fun anyway! I don't watch sports much but I love to play anything at least once. My friends and I would always play random sports like pool, darts, 4-square, wiffel ball, and anything else fun. I love being outdoors whether it is to hunt, fish, or go camping it's all fun and games when you are with friends or family. My favorite thing to do though is snowmobiling in Utah!! Feeling the wind in your face and the snow down your shirt, it's very refreshing. I also really like to help other people when they are feeling down. I get a lot of joy when I help someone turn their frown, upside down!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were Mormon, my grandparents were Mormon, and pretty much all of my family are Mormon. That's not the reason I’m a Mormon though. I have gained a testimony of this church by seeing the blessings that have come from it. My family is so close because we all try to understand and live as Christ would want us to and I just love the feeling that living this gospel gives to me! And that's really all the gospel is about. I call it the gospel of "love". Love is the number one thing we must understand in this life. God sent His Son to Earth because He loved us. Jesus Christ gave up His life for us. So we are shown Heavenly Fathers love as we live the gospel and use the Atonement in our lives. That's why I"m Mormon. It's a church all about LOVE!!!

How I live my faith

First of all, I'm serving a full time mission in the Virginia Richmond Mission. I have been given two years of my life to share this great message with everyone I come in contact with. It's a great feeling to share the gospel and I get two years to do it full time! Along with teaching those around me how to be happier, we also have great opportunities to do so much service! Being a follower of Christ is to serve those around us. Giving service is the best way we can live our faith. Just opening up the door for someone, cutting someone’s grass and helping them with yard work, or washing someone’s car for them! Just sharing our time and talents to help those around us is how we show God we love Him. Another way I live my faith is being true to the teachings of God. I'm still not perfect, no one is, but I try my best to do as the savior says and does. Trying to follow the example of Jesus Christ can sometimes be a lonely road but as I continue reading my Bible and Book of Mormon, praying for strength and guidance, and going to church each week I know that others will see the person I'm following.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Travis
You have to take it to God. Pray with an open heart and a softened heart and He will tell you that it is true by the spirit (Holy Ghost, Holy Sprit, or Spirit of God). In Galatians it says that some of the fruits of the spirit are love, peace, joy happiness and goodness. So you will know when you have an answer when you feel it in your heart. Show more Show less

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Travis
Yes this is true. After Christ taught His Fathers gospel in the Old world, and was slain for it, He was resurrected and before his finial time going up to Heavenly Father He visited the people in the American Continent. Of course it may sound "wild" or "unheard of" but it is true. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son...” Heavenly Father wanted everyone to know His Son Jesus Christ, even if they did live in different parts of the world. Jesus Christ invites all to come unto Him and be saved. His love is as the rays of sunlight covering the world and touching all His creations. I know that Jesus Christ’s' love and gospel knows no boundaries, not even geographical boundaries. As you read Nephi's account of the Saviors ministry to the people in the Book of Mormon you can feel that it is full of love and compassion. Christ even says that He has compassion on them and his "bowels are filled with mercy". Jesus Christ taught these wonderful people the truth of the Gospel in plain and simple terms. When you compare it to His ministry in Jerusalem you can see the similarities and also how the two sermons differ. Christ teaching in ancient America shows that He was the last and great sacrifice and that blessed are they that come unto Him and be perfected in Him. Show more Show less
