Hi I'm Natalie

I teach junior high choir. I like to play sports. I'm a foodie. My favorite band is the Beatles. And...I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Okay, well... What you must know about me first is that I love people. I like one-on-one time, small groups, sports events, big parties, large events, small jazz clubs, huge concerts. I just like to talk to people, watch them and get to know them! Then, I love food. I am a total foodie. I even have a food blog where I just keep my recipes and write about how much I love to eat. Eat out- eat in- fancy- fast food- doesn't matter! And I like to share my food with people! Next- I love music! I teach junior high choir, but really I love great bands like the Beatles, Wilco, Spoon, Weezer, Ben Kweller, The Black Keys, etc. I just adore a good live concert. Lastly- combine all my loves and you pretty much get a party- people, music, food= party/ celebration. I love parties, gatherings, entertaining, Holidays-all of it. I think the best times in life are when you are gathered together with friends and family eating and laughing and dancing! Birthdays, Christmas, Thanksgiving are all super important to me. I love NYC, the beach and Disneyland. Movies are cool. I'm very up front and sincere. I feel like once I've met someone- we're friends. I consider you my friend. Hi.

Why I am a Mormon

But to get to my heart, my core- what makes me tick it boils down to two things: my family and the Gospel- the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My life has meaning, purpose and direction. I love my family. I love my husband and his family. I can't wait until we can start our own family! The Gospel of Jesus Christ is number one in my life. I know the Savior lives and he loves me and everyone! I am a Mormon because I have done the work! The work is: prayer, scripture study, faith, hard work, having love for others etc. I've prayed to Heavenly Father to know if this is right, if this is true. And just as any other feeling is as real as you and I can describe, I felt his answer to my heart and mind. This Gospel is true. This is what He wants us to know. I am a Mormon because living the Gospel makes me happy. My life is hard, but knowing what I know and believing in the power of Jesus Christ, I get through the hard times. I love being a believer of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

On those days where life overwhelms me, and I am on the verge of giving up, crying or yelling at any moment, I pray. I pray to the Father for help. I tell him my fears, my troubles and I know that He listens. I know that my faith and my decision to turn to Him are the reasons that I can get through this. I live my Faith by doing the small things- prayer, scripture study, spending time with my family, going to Church, helping others. I live my Faith by serving at Church. I work with the Youth (in Young Women's) and although I am still only in my 20s, I am so glad that I can be their friend, leader and mentor. On Sundays I prepare lessons about real life things and how to apply the Gospel of Jesus Christ to their lives. They talk with me and I with them about how we can better live the Gospel and be happy and prepare for the future. On Wednesdays, we have Mutual which is a evening activity time that the girls and the leaders plan. We do all sorts of activities from service to developing talents to learning about the Gospel to playing sports and games. It is a great, fun time for the youth to learn, grown and be happy as members of the Church. I love helping others strengthen their testimonies of Jesus Christ. And while I share my testimony, I am also strengthened by them. I live my Faith by loving and serving others just as the Savior did. He is such a great example. "Never oppress a generous thought." How we treat others is really what it's all about, right?

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Natalie
A testimony is your knowledge of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It comes to you through asking a question to the Lord like "Is the Gospel true"? or "Is the Book of Mormon the word of God"? Or "Does the Savior Jesus Christ live"? or "Does the Lord know and love me"? Whatever the sincere question is in your heart when you ask in prayer- a simple prayer is perfect- the Lord will let you know through the Holy Ghost. It will be a clear feeling that this is true. It will make sense. After you receive that feeling- you then have a testimony of that principle. Testimonies grow as you grow. It is the most valuable knowledge I have. Show more Show less
