Hi I'm Bethany

I'm a Canadian and a stellar enthusiast of everything amazing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Every chance for competition I take even though I may lack some serious skill. I love a good unplanned road trip and I believe ice cream makes nearly everything better.

Why I am a Mormon

I went to many different churches growing up. None of the denominations gave me answers to my questions. Not one of them felt right, but each one generated more questions and a greater sense of urgency to find the truth. The missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints were outside my high school one day. My friend was given a picture of the Savior from one of them. After she told me who had given it to her I ran after them asking if I could have one. They gave freely to me and invited me to church. There was a young woman my age at the pulpit with tears in her eyes and I thought – get yourself together girl! But I listened to what she said. Her conviction was strong, and she knew what she was living for. And I didn’t. The missionaries taught me the Plan of Salvation that Sunday and everything clicked. Everything made a lot of sense and it felt so right. They asked me to read the Book of Mormon and explained how it was the keystone to their religion. I agreed but didn’t have a copy. When they handed me one, this overwhelming sense of truth filled me. I felt so good. I felt like I didn’t need to read it or pray about it, I already knew it was true. I took their challenge anyway and returned home to read it and prayed to know if it was true. And what do you know? It is! The Book of Mormon is the word of God and living by it's principles in conjunction with those given in The Holy Bible is the best way to live and brings me more joy than anything else.

How I live my faith

I try. Even when I am done trying, I try to think of a way to begin trying again. Sometimes I think I have a spiritual learning disability as it seems to take me FOREVER to understand things. But I know this: Heavenly Father is always cheering us on and our trials are tailor made for us.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Because we cannot do it alone. We all come to this earth with different strengths and abilities. Everyone is at a different level even though we may share the same earthly age. None of us has the ability to follow the plan which is laid before us perfectly. And none of us knew exactly what that plan was until He came. Jesus Christ was the perfect example of how to live. He showed us how to do it, just as an older brother would teach his younger siblings. Heavenly Father prepared him for this role on earth and He prepared us to follow Him and become more like Him. He had the ability to do it. We need him as our Savior because we cannot do it alone. Without the atonement, we would be lost in our sins and sorrows. We need a leader to show us the way and a Savior to make up for what we lack. Show more Show less
