Hi I'm Jess

I love to laugh and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an elementary school teacher who loves her job. I taught 4th grade for 5 years and now I work with pre-service teachers (college students that want to be teachers). I love the chance to get up and go to work every day. I would rather be outdoors doing anything (camping, hunting, fishing, hiking...) than just about anywhere else. However, I also love shoes, and earrings, and getting dressed up. I love baseball and have a goal to visit all 30 major league stadiums. I am single and loving it!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church and have always had the gospel. It wasn't until I moved away to go to college that I realized that was not enough. I had to start living the things I had been taught not because that was what was expected of me but because that is what I wanted to do. My testimony of my Savior, Jesus Christ, developed so much during this time. I learned that the Atonement isn't just for repentance, but for comfort. I know that I never have to walk through problems alone. He is always there right beside me, most of the time carrying me through. I know that He knows me as a person. He knows my personality, my likes and dislikes, my strengths and weaknesses and He loves me. He wants to help me take those weaknesses and make them strengths.

How I live my faith

I try to participate as much as I can in the church. I love being around people and seeing the joy the gospel can bring to people's lives. Because I play the piano and violin and love music, I have done a lot in the past directing music, organizing choirs, and choosing songs to sing in meetings. I have also worked in wards designed for single students organizing activities once a week, usually on Mondays, because we aren't around our own families during the week.

Are Mormons Christians?

Christians are people that believe in Jesus Christ. The full name of our church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We believe that Jesus Christ leads our church and He is the very center of what we believe. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes! I don't believe that a loving Father in Heaven would send us to this earth and leave us stranded. The prophet today has the same purpose as Moses- to lead and guide the church according to our Heavenly Father's will. While each person can pray and know what Heavenly Father wants them to do, the prophet can receive revelation instructions from God for the church as a whole. Show more Show less

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

We show our gratitude to God for all that we have even if its is just a little by giving back 10% to Him. It is a way for us to help build the kingdom of God. The money is used only for church use, especially to spread the gospel to the rest of the world. It is also a way for Heavenly Father to bless us. If we have faith in this principle, He will bless us both spiritually and in our every day lives. Show more Show less
