Hi I'm Gerardo.

I am a sixth grade teacher and a soccer coach. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am almost 30 years old, and have been married for a little over 4 years. My wife and I are expecting our first child, a boy, in November. I teach sixth grade at a Jr. High, and I LOVE my job! Teaching students is the greatest job there is. Along with teaching, I also coach our boys varsity soccer team, and have been the chess club coach. I love to read, watch movies, and watch all kinds of sports.

Why I am a Mormon

Towards the end of high school, I started feeling like something was missing. I hadn't been very religious for the past few years, and thought maybe that's what I needed. I was expressing my feelings towards a Mormon friend, and she invited me to talk to the missionaries. I told her I would, so later that summer I asked to meet with them. I met with them a couple of different times, and they finally asked me to pray to ask God if everything I was being taught was true. We knelt down in prayer, and I asked God if the Book of Mormon was true, if Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, and if I should be baptized. Almost immediately after I prayed, I felt the Holy Ghost confirm the truth to me of those things. However, when the missionaries asked me if I had gotten an answer, I lied and told them no. I had never planned to join the church. I just wanted to learn more. Well, that night I prayed again, hoping for a different answer, but again I felt the Holy Ghost tell me that this church was true. I decided to tell the missionaries I was ready to be baptized. Everyone was excited for me, well everyone but my Mom. Mom mom wouldn't let me get baptized until I turned 18. Well, two months later I turned 18, and the next day I was baptized. It was one of the greatest days of my life. From that point on, I have strived to become more like the Savior and follow His teachings. I know that we have a Heavenly Father who loves us and watches over us. He loves us so much that He sent His Only Begotten Son to die for our sins so we can be with Him again. This church is Christ's church once again on the earth. I know that if you want to know if these things are true, you can pray just like I did, and receive an answer to your prayer.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to keep the commandments. I also help teach church principles in a class to some of the men in our church.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Gerardo.
The missionaries are funded usually through their own efforts or the efforts of their family. Each missionary, or missionary's family, will save money throughout their life so that the missionary can be funded during the duration of their mission. Other members of the church can donate money to a missionary fund to help a missionary who cannot afford to go on a mission. Show more Show less
